My campfire furnace and workbench disappeared in-between now and last night. None of my stuff is gone from my boxes but those three are gone from my base. i live alone so nobody could get in without raiding.
It was placed on a foundation, right?
It was placed on a foundation, right?
yes but why would that matter
yes but why would that matter
Because things despawn fast outside of a foundation.
I had the same thing happen twice on the Official Australia server, both times campfire, furnace and workbench placed inside wooden shelter, on grass. Nothing in boxes or stashes in same shelter missing items. Door still in place. Would be interested to find out if this is something new, since never had a problem losing these items inside shelters or on foundations inside buildings before on Official and Community servers.

I'm not sure that items placed on the ground inside of a shelter get their decay timer reset when the shelter door opens/closes. Anyone care to correct me?
Well, I heard some cheaters are able to decay all boxes and this stuff instantly.

Anyone care to correct me?
The loss happened from logging off for about 6-8 hours, and again, the structure, small storage boxes, small stash, sleeping bag and door all still in place, untouched and only Furnace, Campfire & Workbench missing/destroyed. Though this recently happened, and it was inside a shelter, I have used shelters for a long time as workshops away from main bases without any loss of this sort.
This happened to me. I noticed that a rock was protruding thru the wall and touching my furnace. I move it and all is fine now.
A few days back I noticed when I logged back in, two of my large storage boxes were gone, yet the two furnaces, campfire, workbench and a small stash bag that was on top of the boxes remained (small stash was just floating there) Everything was on a wood foundation and were all placed within minutes of each other. I also was regularly using all of these items with the exception of the small stash. The only factor I could see that related was that my foundation had one edge pass through the ground so that there was a small bit of ground/grass through my base.... which is exactly where my two storage crates were. However, those crates only had 1/4 of their base on the ground with the rest of the 3/4 of their base directly on the wood foundation. I assume they decayed because they touched the ground, despite being mostly on my foundation (And I lost everything inside them) but I thought using certain items reset the decay of things? Though even though I did lose everything in those crates, I was lucky in that I was paranoid the night before about someone raiding me, and took most of the valuable items from them and put them in my character's inventory and logged off in a mountain area. I did lose a few things I left in them though. The base wasn't raided however. All doors and everything else was intact and perfectly fine. It was just those two crates.
I've had similar issues when I started and having ground or rocks protruding into a foundation or wall would case quick decay on boxes or items touching the ground/rock. Understanding this, I now always confirm that nothing comes remotely close to touching ground/rock if it has poked through the building structures. That's why this recent loss is puzzling, and it happened twice on the same server, different shelters to the same type of objects.
