i've watched a lot of videos on rust of people raiding, trolling etc having a lot of fun, so i decided too buy it and started too playing 3-4 days ago.
spawn>build>get a bow and 10 bullets and cry because everything going fine>4-5 men come with M4 and you are dead
or
spawn>shits going good, i have M4 and stuff>being alone is boring>let some random guy join me, start rust next day>everything gone
tl:dr how do i have fun in this game/where can i find people too play with just like in the youtube videos that won't kill you and steal your stuff?
First of all, you bought into an unfinished alpha that's being actively worked on. There's not too much to do because the game's in its early stages.
Rust is a game about player freedsom, and you're going to need to find friends and figure out if you can trust them. You let that random guy join you and trusted him, and you suffered the price.
Lurk around here and make friends.

nothing wrong with the game, the only thing i have a problem with is the players.
the game is perfect
Well, I'm glad that you're satisfied with Rust, but it's only about 10% done as far as the vision the devs have in mind.
And considering a cornerstone of Rust's design is player freedom, you're not getting rid of that other problem anytime soon.
Because the content is minimal, the game direction (high concept) is rather inconsistent and lacking, and the community is pretty bad overall.

This is patent absurdity. The game is barely in alpha, and you believe there's nothing wrong with the game--that "the game is perfect." Laughable.

Theres some stuff that could need too get fixed, but I'm quite happy with the game, but not with the community.
Can't I have my own opinion about the game?
Can't I have my own opinion about the game?
Sure, but that doesn't mean your opinion gets to be valuable or valid.
Sure, but that doesn't mean your opinion gets to be valuable or valid.
My opinion is worth just as much as yours.
My opinion is worth just as much as yours.
This is a common misconception, and I don't understand why people think this is true. Opinions are not all equal. In fact, many opinions are absurd, such as yours--that this game is perfect--and should be rejected as such. Opinions can also be irrational, psychotic, homicidal, delusional, and just flat out false. So please, spare me this respect all opinions nonsense. When you take the time to critically formulate a well reasoned opinion, then you can expect some respect for that opinion.

My opinion? You're a dick. He was simply asking where to find better players to team up with and enjoy it more - and he happens to like the game how it is. Get off your high horse and learn some manners. You don't know it all. I'm sure you have plenty of hours put into the game which leads you to believe you have a better knowledge of it all but the fact is, you're just an asshole with too much time on your hands. fuherboy- I agree, the game is great and the community ( with a fine example right here) sucks.
make some leather armor, take an mp5 or m4, and go kill resource gatherers.
built a good attractive house, and start looking for people to join you, but dont let them
into the house, just tell them to build a house next to yours.
add them on skype, and enjoy....
yesterday me and 2 of my friends raided 3 houses without even using C4...
the guys just opened the doors for us and we killed them.
one of the houses had windows without bars so we just built stairs and invaded
the game can be a lot of fun if you play it correctly!

You resort to ad homs then go on to preach to me about "manners" in the same breath. Case in point.
How is criticizing someone's opinion demonstrative of a lack of manners, exactly? Did I attack his character, like you just did to me? No. And for future reference, if you want to be taken as some kind of authority on manners and conduct, you probably should avoid such hypocrisy. Did I use strong language? No. Was I dismissive? No.
Mr. Mayhem, your entire argument is, "your opinion that the game is 'perfect' is completely absurd and you must have something quite wrong with you." That's shitposting. Please stop defending your shitposting with more shitposting.

I never said anything was wrong with anyone. Don't straw man me.

That had nothing to do with the poster; those were merely some more readily understandable examples to reinforce the central point that not all opinions are equal, or valid. Reading comprehension.
Mayhem's point is completely valid-- not all opinions are equal. We're all entitled to them, but I certainly don't value all opinions equally and it would be foolish to do so.
There's nothing rude about that, the guy's opinion that the game is perfect but fatally boring is absurd.
He's entitled to that opinion, and I'm entitled to ignore it as being ridiculous.
And was there actually a need to start waving your dick around saying that your opinion is better than others?
Why are we discussing philosophy? Likely half of the posters here have at least taken PHI 101 and don't need the logic lesson, and it's irrelevant to the meat of the conversation anyway. Let's leave off the masturbatory bullshit.
Be social, OP. Make friends. You could also, of course, get used to playing solo. Those are your options, though.
And was there actually a need to start waving your dick around saying that your opinion is better than others?
I haven't waved anything around. But to answer your question, yes, there is a reason to criticize an opinion that "the game is perfect," or even near to it, because irrational and largely invalid praise such as this honestly does nothing to furthering the development of this game. Constructive criticism--that is taking the time to critically and readily analyze the game (its strengths/weaknesses/flaws/attributes)--I find, is much more useful and beneficial when it comes to providing feedback.
Granted, doing that is much easier with a finished product, as opposed to one in early alpha stages, but nevertheless...
If you have bad breath, would you rather everyone lied to you and told you that your breath smelled great, or would you rather become aware of the problem that you might take steps to improving it?
Please stop defending your shitposting with more shitposting.
If people could discuss the topic instead of the value of my opinion I would be happy.

Here is my question: why do you care so much? You stated your opinion - fine. But then you hung around this thread, waiting for people to respond to your shitposts. I will give you a perfect example: I am going to respond to you, look at a few other threads, and then I am going to leave, make some lunch, and will completely forget about you and everyone else here for that matter.
Tl'dr? Stop caring so much to the point where you are spending extended amounts of time telling random strangers about how right you are.
If you have bad breath, would you rather everyone lied to you and told you that your breath smelled great, or would you rather become aware of the problem that you might take steps to improving it?
This isn't even relevant to the issue. Someone simply stated that their opinion is that they like the game, then you decided that you'd show everyone how high you think of yourself and how your opinion is worth more than others. The OP gave an opinion. Had they given their opinion and started saying that everyone else's is wrong (such as you are doing), then I'd see a cause for argument. But they didn't.
An opinion is not right or wrong, it is someone's view on something. Who are you to say that you have a batter view on a subject than someone else?
And OP, bringing your friends in sounds like the best thing to do.
Dear God nobody can make a thread without someone attacking them

Sorry but manners are reserved for people who have done nothing wrong. You were rude and completely dismissive of the fact that he liked the game the way it is. And believe it or not, he isn't alone. It's people like you who ruin things for everyone else. Know it alls & elitists. You look down your nose and define his opinion as "laughable" and "absurd" because it doesn't align with your own. God forbid someone has a conflicting opinion.
Here is my question: why do you care so much?
Because I'd like the game to succeed.
