• I was thinking about the coming robot NPCs, and had (what I think) is a good idea.

I remember seeing a post a while back about this, how these robots would be good to make people work together to kill them, as if they did not the robot could cause trouble for all of them. Maybe destroy everyone's base. One comment struck home though. They said all teamwork would be called off the second the robot was dead, as everyone scrambled to grab the precious loots that would drop afterwards. I think one way to perhaps counter this, is that when the robot is destroyed, the explosion sends the loots out in all different directions, and far away enough that it could land anywhere on the island, and that there would be no way to know where it went (perhaps the explosion sends them straight up in the sky past viewing distance, to fall somewhere else later?). So there wouldn't be a mad scramble to kill someone heading off in the direction of the loot - kill that person and he may spawn nearer to the loot than he already is. I know it wouldn't stop KoSing completely, and there will always be some people who kill just to be a dick, but I thought this may go some way towards mitigating the death of the robot immediately becoming a war event. Maybe someone else has some other cool ideas to go with this, to expand on it?
I like the Idea of a Roaming Boss dat causes trouble on the entire Island. like you said People or should group up to take one of those Baddies down (There could be more of them at the same time). But the Idea that the loot is going to spread everywhere around the Island doesent fits. People that fighted to get him down should get the loot not any newbie that found his scrap in some rock.

It should be a fight for survival - something that bands people together. [editline]6th October 2014[/editline] I suppose this is a pipe dream really, as when the robot dies people will instantly turn to PvP anyway just to get the loot carried already by other players. Just considering.
This game would turn into a joke. Robots? Really? I was expecting something uniqe, not a cube headed pice of metal shooting rockets from it's arms.

Military robots already exist, and an irradiated area would be the ideal plade to deploy them instead of human troops.

But we are talking about giant ass robots as world boss in a game based on realism. What the fuck is that? In a radiated area, there should be mutants. Maybe something more original, but not a giant robot please. No.

[T][/T]
You talk about realism...then mention mutants. Do you see why this is stupid?
Well. The thing is, all survivals are based on realism. Mostly. But you have zombies or other creatures on them like in DayZ. Does that mean it's unrealistic? No. DayZ is trying to simulate a world that has been infected with a zombie outbreak. Rust is trying to simulate a post apocalyptic world with radiation. Well, the best thing that fits in it are mutants. Also mutans aren't that unrealistic. Radiation already does turn people to strange creatures in real life, so why not?
Troll or idiot folks. You decide.
Troll or idiot folks. You decide.
Na bruh. Dis tim it wuz legit post, but if u want me to be dat way. Sure, ain't got no problumz with dat.

So i wouldnt like to have an enemy that fucks up everything i worked for Personally i would like to see them as Patrols if you run in you will die in the most szenarios. thats how i see them in future.

You mean while you sleep? This is stuff that has been posited and (semi) confirmed by Garry anyway, I know he's very interested in bringing in NPCs that take a team to killl. Nobody wants to see an enemy that can fuck up everything you worked for - that's why it would make everyone work together. If you can just turtle in your base, no one will want to deal with it and just wait until it roams further away.
Radiation already does turn people to strange creatures in real life, so why not?
No. It does not. Its kills you with things like luekemia. You're thinking of what it does to dna. Which 99.7% of the time if it doesn't make you sterile will be detrimental to the offspring.

I would rather that robot more as a Death Swadron then a Bulldozer that rapes your shack. Just Imagine youre running around at 3:00 AM and you see the robot wrecking someone`s house after he leaves you go for the house and loot stuff that someone worked hard for My Idea would be like if you randomly run into that robot youre going to die in the most ways you have to stay out of his sight
Well, it would encourage people to band together and live near each other. If you see a robot attacking your neighbour's house, better get everyone in the neighbourhood together and fight, or your house may be next.
whatever
;46164145']My Point is If those Robots attack structurs they will also attack it while youre offline.
I'll revisit this comment. That's one of the defining things about Rust. If you're offline, things will attack you. How many forum threads have there been about people whining that they got raided while they were offline?

i like the idea of "monsters" that destroy your base. it would scare the shit out of me to be hiding away and have a robot/monster/mutant rad bear bust through the wall to kill me. i would hide. i would work with other people. i would take only what i can use and run the other way. remember that in rust, shit happens when you are offline; and probably worse from players than NPCs that (for example) don't loot only kill. or don't break sleeping bags. or don't put up new doors on your mansion. you can work around predictable destruction. people come up with unpredictable and cruel shit, and do it in a heartbeat with no remorse. the thing is, the NPC should be a bigger, badder problem than anything else on the map, or it's pointless. who would worry about a robot that can be killed with a few easily found grenades? or a rad bear that only lives near rad sites? or any enemy that cannot get up on a foundation block to attack you (ala legacy). why implement something no-one will fear? ;D
Bigfoot > Robots
Aliens > Robots
I really hope they don't add robots or anything futuristic. I think having like giants or dinosaurs would be cool or mutated animals... but.. robots? Really? METAL enemies in a game with bullets that are shot from caveman crafted guns, bows and melee weapons? Come on now.

I really don't think robots or futuristic stuff would work at all.
Um, where did the devs announce robot NPCs? I must have missed something, and I'd appreciate links to posts by garry or the other devs with any firm statements. If you're referring to this, it's called concept art, and not all concept art becomes real. Still concept at this stage but I am really hoping those fellows make their way into the game, and I hope they will be quite large. I've said heaps of times I love the idea of ancient abandoned tech from previous advanced civs. If the grand idea of them are to provide an opportunity for teamwork to bring them down or if they otherwise are very tanky you could imagine the pitched battles multiple guys would be having with these things - all across the map. The whole idea doesn't need to center around just robots i.e. just having different flavors of robots would be a bit boring, but i reckon there are a lot of ideas you could cook up for NPCs using the idea of the leftovers of a long gone advanced civilization. As admin I'd teleport in just to spectate/see the outcome of the battle!
I still think it should be like Giants and shit instead of robots or military. People complain about the game being a DayZ close then want robots or military stuff in it lol robots really don't fit into it at all. The way I think Giants could fit into the game is since its supposed to be radiated and Im not sure where the storyline of Rust is going but they could be like "scientific experiments gone wrong" and have them kinda mutated but big as hell. Like boss fights and stuff but not robots, because who wants to fight a METAL ENEMY WITH STICKS SPEARS AND ROCKS
