OK I rented my own Server I can play for 5-6 hours and it works great. I love it .. Graphics are Awesome BUT.... I log off and come back in and it says I am dead... I even Logged off and went straight back in and still the same....... I try to respawn on my Sleeping bag and I cant , I see my guy laying down, then another stands up but I am still asleep... So I have to kick myself using Rusty RCON... I go back in and do random respawn, sometimes I cant wake up and I have to exit again... Once I do get in, I run around gathering for 5-6 minutes then my guy just falls asleep and I cant wake up and have to kick myself... So I have my own server and I cant play for more than 5-6 min.... Also when I reboot the server ... It wipes it and we have to start all over again... I have 35/40 people in my 50 man server all day long, it sucks that I have to reboot and wipe the server so I can play on it... I know it alpha still but I think its was too early to be released... HEEEEELLLLPPPPPPPP
I'm admin on a friend's server and having a very similar issue. After some testing I found a 'sort of' pattern. Just so, I will start this story with "I swear I'm not mad but... "
I had crashed out in a sleeping bag, unable to wake, and had to 'client.disconnect' from the game. Respawned again and found I had died, not unexpected since I crashed out in the open.. but when I approached the area of my bugged sleeping bag, intent on destroying it and recovering some gear in a box, I suddenly dc'd and found myself in my original sleeping bag, unable to wake again. disconnected and respawned, fresh again.. avoided the area of my broken sleeping bag and played as normal for a while. logged out and started again next day, fresh start again, though I must have died, started a new life elsewhere and then logged out end of day.
Now this is where it gets interesting. logged in today, found myself in the first body, near the sleeping bag... the one that crashed. I played with that one for a while feeling a bit groundhogday and then crashed out of game. When I restarted, I was in the second Newman, with his own life built elsewhere... weird, but gets weirder,. I logged out normally, logged in and found myself in my 3rd Newman iteration.. in a different area to the other 2, logged out and logged in, I was in the first one again...
Finally the game completely crashed again and I could not log in without having wakeup issues or having to restart fresh. Bug reports have been sent in for some of the crashes, hopefully I'm not really mad, having 3 bodies ingame at once..... the horror!
First of all, the "can't wait up/dead on log on" situation is a bug that others have reported for several days now. Try reading threads.

I'm willing to get a donut that you don't have -load in your Rust experimental launch command. If you don't put -load, the server doesn't load the saved data you stored and just makes a new one, which then overwrites your old data the first time the server saves.
