I started to play RUST since May and has been playing for 460 hrs. As I live in Asia and I love competitive environments, I choose to survive in Hong Kong official server. Singapore server is also acceptable in ping, but the max number of online players is only 100, so Hong Kong server is a better choice. For the first month of playing, I'd like to say that RUST is an amazing game in that period. For that time I really enjoyed what I can do as a survivor in the wild: chopping, mining, learning, making allies, raiding others, getting killed. I died a lot but it was a lot of fun. However, after that period I noticed a rapid growth of hackers. What is more, a rapid growth of people using bugs(live in rocks, live in underground, you know that; )). Hackers get benefits others can't get, while bug players get better protections, whose bases are nearly untouchable. These two groups of people has been crashing the food chain since then. So far, the official Hong Kong server has become a total disaster(I don't know the situation in other servers, but Hong Kong server is half ruined now).T can't even get out of my house because there are Korean hackers with auto-aiming surrounding me. And if I don't use bug to build my base inside a rock, hacker will easily walk into it when I am offline. I am really frustrated about the situation here. To my concern, banning hackers is a hard task but not that hard really. I suggest that there should be an Admin in every server, especially in official ones. Also, there should be some kind of algorithm to judge whether a players's behavior is LEGAL. For example, if one can jump 10 feet high, or his position moves through a wall, then he can be judged as a hacker, then ban him. Some other thoughts: the inner-outer side update is not a good invention. Raiding cost too much since then and that encouraged players to use cheats. I strongly suggest that be canceled. Didn't see much use of mining, water, farming systems. Since de blog 66, Mac users suffer from 'randomly generated huge white light spots' on the screen, please fix that asap! Have a nice day!
You make it seem like stopping hackers is a easy job and should be as easy as adding a check for players actions. Sir, if it was that easy then there wouldn't be a hacking problem. It was stated already that the anti cheat has been mass banning daily and that they may start looking into decteing stuff server side. It's also been posted everywhere that you shouldn't play on community servers due to them not having admins, so find a decent sized community and there should be way less hackers to deal with. Also, removing a feature that balences the game more just to make hackers happy is really dumb.

And, yes, it is easy to make a check for hackers. Oxide plugin does this quite well. It is just that EAC obviously is not doing this. I guess you haven't played on an Oxide server so don't know that it can check for a lot of different types of hacks like flying.

It's an unfortunate necessity, but it's also something they have to implement very carefully.

By the way, I don't actually know anything about coding, I just know that since one team can solve an issue after several months, the developers must be able to solve it in a week while making the game." What I'm saying: The Oxide plugin has been in development for a long time with half the work put in solely aimed towards anti-cheat. Meanwhile, Facepunch is worried about creating a whole fucking game, and don't have the ability to put so much focus onto anti-cheat without hindering the progress of development. They devote the time they can but most of their efforts are right now aimed towards developing the game. This is only amplified when groups like Oxide come out and introduce fantastic plugin features such as anti-cheat. It allows them to, again, be able to not put that much focus on anti-cheat as you expect. They are still working towards it, but they don't have the manpower or time that you hold expectations for. To OP: As I said above, it takes a lot of effort to create anti-cheat capabilities, and Facepunch do not have the time to devote to it 100% right now. Cheating in rust is a choice of the player. Facepunch should not remove a mechanic of their own game for such a trivial and small reason. The amount of people who cheat just because it's slightly harder to raid the outside of bases now is minuscule to the point that it does not deserve enough controversy to have the mechanic removed.
460 WHOLE HOURS? Garry do what this man says, he clearly knows what he's talking about with such impressive qualifications.
Title says veteran, title says 400 hours. Title suggests not a veteran at all. Hell. I'm still a casual.
