This is really starting to get out of hand. For the past couple of days texas II (hapis island) has had multiple no clip users "raiding" bases and ruining the experience of others. I'm sure this will be hard to address, but this severly dampers my interest in the game. I enjoy raiding/ being raided.. even if I'm not on. But to noclip and use other obvious ways to cheat just ruins the experience for others.
Rustafied also has this happening quite frequently (every night). Problem is, it's a game of whack-a-mole for server admins and mods, even if they ban the offender it's always *after* the damage has been done, and most likely the person was working with a larger group to farm for them by noclipping through walls and taking other peoples shit. How trivial is it for a large group to fund their farmer the $20 bucks to get a new rust account when he gets caught? $2 each for a 10 man group and he's back in business. The noclipper can farm days worth of resources in a matter of hours because he's taking it from people who legitimately farmed it for days collectively. Your other alternative is to be in large enough a group that someone is *always* at your base and able to report the hacker when they are actually doing this. So as it is, with the current exploits and cheats, only large groups will ever really get anywhere and accumulate anything, unless you play on private, pre-registration, or smaller population servers that do not have large groups. Rust is broken currently, and I have doubts that they will ever be ahead of the curve when it comes to people doing this stuff, so it becomes a game that is not truly accessible for most people unless you want to swarm up in some large group. No thanks.
Rust is broken currently, and I have doubts that they will ever be ahead of the curve when it comes to people doing this stuff
Rust is currently performing almost zero server-side validation, and in yesterday's devblog garry stated that he'd hoped to avoid having to do this and have EAC/VAC handle it, but that this strategy's obviously not working so server-side work is to begin.

They had a good handle on server-side checks in Legacy, I don't see why they couldn't on experimental. I never saw anyone no-clip through a wall in legacy, everyone who tried got kicked. Relying on third-party anti-cheats to do things you should be doing is always going to end badly, another example of this is DayZ. They expect BattlEye to do everything, and how did that work out? They installed rootkits on everyone's computers and broke the game and lost HUGE numbers of players. EAC is a rootkit too, don't get me wrong, they're doing a lot of illegal stuff too. Third party anti-cheats will never be effective, because the person who owns the computer will ALWAYS be able to defeat them if he/she wants to. Player's don't own the server, and bypassing server-checks are near impossible without breaching the server itself, which is even more illegal than these anti-cheats. Hopefully we'll see some of the server-side checks they had in legacy back in soon enough.
You could always change servers?
its one thing to deal with a certain someone using an aim bot from time to time, but watching 2 guys fly into my base and proceed to empty everything from my chests and there's nothing i could do about it, was the worst feeling ever. i would have felt better if they C4ed their way in, but nope. they popped out of the ground and shot me

oh look the hacker is back. Steam ID Facepunch_Admin

I really was enjoying the game again, but as it is I've uninstalled and will be trying back in a couple months or a year to see if things have gotten any better here. Plenty of other great games to play for the timebeing while they sort this stuff out. Too much at stake in a game like rust, when many hours of your playtime can just be taken by other people with no real effort. Good luck everyone! I'll see ya on the flip.
