Patches [B]may[/B] require a full map reset, and there's nothing you can do about those, it's a version compatibility issue.
However, if your server launch command does not have -load in it, it won't load the save and will start over.
and remember to have your map seed number in safe. After update punch it in your config and all should be up and running.
If you got seed set to default = 0, its random after every update -> floating trees and buildings underwater etc...
