In this concept i had an idea using Barrels for creating a Shield.
This shield can have attachments placed on the front of the shield such as 1x4 wood panels with Wood or Bone Spikes sticking out.
Barrels themselves are a fantastic item in that many things can be built, check out the barrel BBQ's :)
The way it works is you would cut a Barrel in half length ways and bolt them together.
Shape the top of the barrel into a half dome, cut a gun hole and view slot.
Cut and shape the bottom of the barrel into a spike.
Add a car door handle and leather support strap on the inside of the shield.
The way you can use it is that while carrying it, you can raise it in a defensive position in which you would be looking through the view slot, when raising your gun or spear it would be fit into the gun hole easily, you could add attachments(Wood or Bone Spike Panels) to the front of the shield for close quarters combat, when injured you would crouch and place the shield into the ground using the Spike at the bottom of the shield, this way you can stay protected while you quickly use a bandage.
The Shield front can also be Painted for Custom Designs.
