I haven't seen anything on the mind-map about shields but with the correct mechanic for metal-plate chestguards it would seem simple enough to just make a flat surface with that same blocking power.
The shield would block damage just like a chest plate and have durability that chips away from spear hits and arrows but chunks away from gunfire.
I was just talking with a bro about it and needed to let it out
