I know that Garry applied a patch in the dev branch but when he asked Linux users to verify(via twitter) that it was working there were some issues:
Rust was failing to launch so he received an answer that the patch was not working. However it was impossible to test the patch as Rust was crashing at launch. The person who answered Garry did not make the issue clear so Garry took it to mean that the patch failed and removed the patch.
As of this moment, the Lauch of Rust(dev) is successful but now the bug is still present. If the launcher issue can be corrected and the patch reapplied, maybe we can test it and verify that it has been fixed. (acc. to Unity, the fix works)
The errror that we were getting on crash at launch was
Invalid serialized file version. File: "/home/******/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Rust/rust_Data/mainData". Expected version: 5.1.1f1. Actual version: 5.1.1p2.
so it looks like the launcher just needed to be updated with the correct version number(maybe???)
(I don't use twitter so I could only post here in the hope that it will help)
God Damn It :(
Well hopefully it gets shoved back into dev tomorrow, so we can have a real go at testing it.
