Be sure to check elixwhitetail's post just below this one for some quick information about the update. Thanks for the hard work elix! http://playrust.com/devblog-67/ Get to updating gentlemen, there are newmans to club and landmines to trip.
Oh, you beat me to making a thread for it. Here's what I was preparing to post, minus the link to the devblog itself, since you've provided it. BTW, in case anyone doesn't know, a news bot posts every devblog in FP's RSS-feed news forum, In The News Node. [t]https://i2.wp.com/files.facepunch.com/buck/2015/July/02/2015-07-02_00101.jpg[/t] Highlights: - The server now blocks noclip and cheats can't get around this (unless they figure out an exploit against the validation itself, which is not impossible). That sound you hear is the first of many tears from cheaters. - Ore resource node yields have been adjusted; they give only half as much ore per node, but node spawning has been increased to 1.5x to compensate; expect more adjustments in the future. - Ragdolls don't spaz out from being pincushioned by spears/arrows anymore, RIP funny bug - Mines, riot helmet, bone club added - Alex (the sound guy) is working on [sp]___________________________________________[/sp][sp]______________[/sp][sp]______________________(the point is they're teasing us and not telling)______[/sp][sp]___________________________________________[/sp] - Added ability to customize your character's skin colour, facial features, and body shape [sp]just kidding[/sp] garry wrote the following:
Linux is broke. We know and we’re sorry. This isn’t a problem we can fix easily. It’s a bug in the latest version of Unity. They’ve apparently fixed it in their internal builds – but haven’t released the fix just yet, so we’re waiting patiently along with you guys. We can’t just roll-back to a working version of the game because it would mean rolling back a number of other important fixes if we do. This might seem cruel, twisted, disrespectful to the Linux users. Would we roll back if this was affecting Windows users? Yes. Because they are the huge majority. We sometimes have to prioritise the majority. It sucks, and we know it sucks. It’s important to say that the game is still in early access, still in alpha, still in active development. We update every week. It’s not going to stay like this.
Also, procgen9 (the terrain procedural generator, revision 9) is in, and this is why there was the wipe: [t]https://i2.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/15-Wb0VCG5.jpg[/t] [t]https://i0.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/02-2ksf9yj.jpg[/t] [t]https://i1.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/04-xIxH33K.jpg[/t] [t]https://i0.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/05-WCOe11a.jpg[/t] [t]https://i0.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/13-p5qeUO5.jpg[/t] [t]https://i2.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/19-kkIm8yh.jpg[/t] [t]https://i0.wp.com/playrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/17-8UraIW1.jpg[/t]
Someone can tell, how much the landmine costs? The Orenerf is very worthfull.
Ore Yields Right now how people are getting ores is wrong, so this will probably change in the future. While playing I realized that it was ridiculous that you could find an ore node and gather enough metal to make 3-4 guns from it. There are also some cases where a few players get lucky and get a whole bunch all at once, leaving nothing for anyone else. To combat this I halved the number of resources found in Ores. Sorry! To make up for it, I increased the maximum number of ores that spawn by 50%, so in general there will be 25% less theoretical ore on the map. We’ll see how this plays out for now, but we really need to revisit this next week and have finding ore be more like finding a bit of treasure and not just a time sink.
Isnt that the opposite of what this change achieves? You dont tressure things you find in abundance (50% more spawns) or have little value (50% resources), if you really wanted to turn the ore nodes into tressures you would make them rarer and higher yeilding, so that we have to look for them. It would still take a long time to farm but most of the time would be spent running around and not simply holding down the mouse button like a bot. Saw the reddit topic yesterday about this and agree with it.

Ex 50 to 100 nodes spawn After update 50 to 150. It's more like a 25% average increase.

Spawn rates increased by 50%- 100->150 Gather rate halved- 150->75
That sound you hear is the first of many tears from cheaters.
The classic bear poking went south pretty quickly last time. Lets not piss them off again while having this engine shall we!

The game shouldn't even be able to launch once there's ONE modified file. Would be even more effective than banning.
