Hi! The admin of my favorite server made a blueprint wipe this month and so I started thinking about a new concept for getting new blueprints and stuff. At the moment I get wooden floorspikes, torches or stone hatches from 3 of 5 barrels and must say that this is very frustrating. So here's my suggestion... The blueprint system could be based on "tech levels" like in some strategy games. You start in a kind of "stone age" tech level and any objects and blueprints that spawn of barrels or crates are objects from this level or "other stuff" like food or something. If you have all blueprints from of your tech level you reach the next level. And from this time on the barrels and crates only spawn stuff from your new tech level. And so on. If you find (or raid) some stuff from a higher tech level than yours, you can use it but not research (and build) it unless you reach that level. These "tech levels" could be "stone age" (with bone weapons and spears), "medieval age" (with bows and primitive metal armor), "gunpowder age" (with eoka and waterpipe shotgun), "modern age" (with firearms and rocket lounchers) and maybe a "pre apocalypse age" (with some futuristic stuff like in fallout). Thanks for reading! (btw: I never understand why you can craft urban trousers and boots from begin on, but have to research stuff like the green t-shirt and the blue longsleeve shirt)
This is Idea is only bareable if the Server wipes always with bp. If not i dont see any hope for youre suggestion.

With the last update we get some medieval style melee weapons and a crossbow comming soon. Maybe they could implement more gunpowder objects too. Like a musket (as a primitiv firearm for long range) or another more primitiv (and easyer to craft) explosive device based on gunpowder instead of explosives.
Love the idea of making [URL="http://m.imgur.com/a/PaHEH"]muskets[/URL] the entry item into the world of guns. They seem more primitive, without being unreliable like the eoka. Then the scrap guns can become a higher tier to themselves, maybe requiring harvesting scrap metal or components.. Not sure if replacing C4 is an option at this point--to much history. But piles of gunpowder barrels could be a way to inflict mass destruction while C4 is honed as a targeted breaching mechanism.
I agree to the fact that splash damage on buildings is a huge problem at the moment. On our server many raiders changed from c4 to rockets because they find the splash damage more effective than a higher point damage. But I think gunpowder barrels (nice idea) could work if they are less effective and less reliable than c4 (like the beancan granade). Its, like all game concepts, a question of balancing.
