• Serious Issue: After closing Rust, Windows stops working completely

It's pretty simple: once I close Rust, I can't use the internet, I can't reach network services. Chrome stops working. I can't even turn off my computer, it gets stuck logging off. The weird thing is that everything works fine up until the point I close Rust. I posted this to Reddit and a lot of people are having the same issue or similar ones. Another reddit thread just popped up, so I guess this is affecting a lot of people. But only now people are realizing it's Rust's fault. It took me somedays before I realized it. I thought there was something wrong with my computer in general. Same for me here :( No Shut down...No Chrome...No Network...No Remote Desktop...NOTHING
Has anyone played on any servers that don't require EAC? Launching Rust outside of Steam should bypass EAC loading. I'm just curious if it's some kind of issue with EAC not unhooking properly. These symptoms seem like the kind of thing a malfunctioning rootkit could trigger. If I get time later today I'll set up a test server and see if the issue still occurs for me without EAC.
Check to see if gameoverlayui.exe is running after closing the game. I noticed for me that it was and could not be killed. Disable steam overlay.

Disabling Steam overlay did not solve it for me. But closing Rust through the task manager did. Weird shit.

Same here. Don't know what to do..
Same problem, i have to reset my pc everytime i close rust. So annoying!
Same here, -no webpage is loading. (But Teamspeak3 is working fine) -Windows won´t shut down (hangs up on shut down screen). -And it´s not possible to launch any application.
Are you guys running Fraps? I never had this issue until I ran Fraps while running Rust and then these problems began.
Are you guys running Fraps? I never had this issue until I ran Fraps while running Rust and then these problems began.
No. I tried with MSI Afterburn ON and OFF. Tried closing Rust in task manager, tried disabling steam overlay. All without sucess. Everyday i need to force restart my computer because of this. i'm about to stop playing. Facepunch won't give me a new computer. =p
This is happening to me too! http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1476311&p=48220631#post48220631
Disabling the overlay worked for me up until last weeks patch. I now have to alt+f4 to prevent this problem.

This also causes my GoogleUpdate.exe to hang at 50% CPU usage and not be able to be closed. Really sucks.
I have the same issue. It happened to me when I clicked the cog icon to go into steam overlay to see the new rust items. Then It started to bog down when I tried to exit out of the steam overlay. Then I had the issues people above had. I then needed to Hard Reset my Pc to fix the issue.
