• Seattle down 2days to ddos attacks?

Timeouts have cost me two full kits and a shit ton of farming resources. Couldn't login for hours. Any plan to protect the servers? [editline]7th July 2015[/editline] Anyone else or should I be looking at my end?
These outages do suck, but I don't think there is much to be done about it. From what I understand, you can't fully block a DDOS attack, if that is indeed what is causing the downtime. I had the metal ore cooking in the furnace for the fragments needed to upgrade my base to the highest level, when the server went down. Had to go to sleep after waiting an hour for it to come back up, because I had work in the morning. I checked in on my fort in the morning and I was raided. If only I had that half hour I needed to upgrade my base, I might still have one.. :suicide:
community servers are suffering the same problem.. seems to be across the board :(

Why doesn't rust do a little more on protecting the servers IP? I know can't hide it 100%, but least Make them work for it :/
If you really want to play on an official server play on the rustafied ones :D.
Thread is confirmed spam. Lock it up boys.
Didn't mean to rate it. Honestly don't care either way. I do feel bad for the servers and their community being affected by ddos attacks if that's what's happening.
Now third day in a row Seattle is down due to attacks. Always at the same time. Suspect someone not on US time is doing it while they are offline OR some troll doing it at prime time bc his no clip got nerfed.
aaaaand its down again. 4 nights in a row. no word from devs, awesome!!!
Not a squeak from devs. 4 days of being down more than up.
Went back up last night for a few hours before going down again. Seattle Official server now on it's 5th day of being down for PST prime time hours. Can we at least get an acknowledgement of the issue here?
yup, just tried to play and low and behold, it's down again. Jesus, 5 nights in a row.
server owner can buy ddos protection ... but its really fucking expensiv. not sure why the dont do a script that redirects the ddos ... that way the main server wont be hit . i guess it harder then i make it sound

Do you think it's possible to stop a DDOS that's sending you multiple gigabytes of data per second? How do you pick out the single legitimate connection from a Rust player in the middle of gigabytes of shit that looks like a legitimate connection but is part of the attack? Thanks for giving the DDOSer attention with this thread, too.

really not that simple, flashy:)

If he does than this thread isn't giving any more attention than the 200 people they're affecting every night.
