Raiding right now is just about getting loot in my opinion, when in early Alpha (Summer about 2 years ago) raiding was the funniest thing you could do.
It was not only fun because it was hard, it was also fun because it had a lot of strategy build into it.
Where to go in? That was probably the biggest question and the best mindgame about raiding back then.
Right now? You need a ton of c4 and then you look for the cupboards to basically destroy the whole base leaving nothing behind.
Wow... it's fun isn't it?
Now I know that's a problem of the remove tool and wasn't planned, but I still liked raiding in Alpha a lot more, because you needed skill to do it, and that's what it's lacking now!
Now I know that's a problem of the remove tool
You can't use the remove tool 10 minutes after a wall was placed; we used to be able to self-destruct every foundation and thus making the whole base collapse but we don't anymore. Can you clarify your point?
Like pointed out previously, you can't remove anything after a certain amount of time...so you can't just demolish someone's base once you find their TC.
The bigger issue is upgrading. Once raiders find your TC, they just upgrade the stone walls to sheet metal which requires significantly less explosives to breakl through.

I have to admit i only saw it on there twitter update post.

This guy is completely uninformed.... I get through bases all the time using minimal rockets/c4 using a bit of problem solving, melee tools and raid towers. Sometimes no explosives at all. People make mistakes, so take advantage. Shut the fuck up.

I agree with you but damn son. STFU? Really?
You have to insult somebody, or you're not doing right.

Raiding has always primarily been about getting loot. Isn't trying to find the quickest and least expensive way to gain access to the base or good parts of the base strategy? I don't see the point of your post haha
Ohhh...I wasn't aware of the buff. I must not have read the dev blog closely.
Wasn't in the devblog, only the twitter feed showed the change.
If you think raiding is boring.. you could.. you know? Online raid them?
Raiding is to easy. It's not even fun
There is not point in base building

I hope thats tongue in cheek.
the whole atmosphere of Rust was just better back then imo.
including raiding being a lot more fun. still is great satisfaction but the costs are so much higher and the means limited to explosives thx to building priviliges, at least when talking about bigger bases with well hidden cupboards.
Nope, it's to easy to raid. And it to easy to be raided. You don't have to work for it or think about the raid. And I guess the new thing is you can see inside of a base so they know we're to hit. It's pointless as fuck right now to base build. All 16 of my friends stoped playing rust for this reason. Wait for a year and see were the devs get done on rust. Still a great game and still fun but needs more work

Nah it really isnt all that easy. Your problem if you always build only a single loot room and shit like that.
I don't know how you guys can tool raid. I sat there for 1 minute hitting a stone wall watching the health go from 500 to 497 and said "fuck it, not doing this". I'd so much prefer being at work making money.
It is easy James. Mostly for clans. 10+ hitting that wall with the right tools it's coming down. Very easy. Same for gate locks. Just have 6 of your friends take 3rds between 0000/9999 and go. Your get The code in no time. Do all that with the see though buildings low graphical glitch and 4 c4 you can fuck any small medium sized base. And everyone raids when your off line so easy. They can see were to hit and we're the goods are.

We have about 6 rooms for loot. 15 player clan 12floors with stone high walls and toolbox fence. All got raided. Big clans own the game now. If your not in a monster of a clan your Fucked. It's to easy to exploit in this game it's not like the old legacy version. We got one guy in the clan that got in a big Ass base with just pickaxes on a high stone wall, got in walls. Pickaxed the base wall. Got inside did this for every wall. Got to the core of there base in 30mins by himself. Raided and trolled. We did not even know until he asked us to come get stuff

Picking on your own is pointless, as it should be. What good would a wall be if one person could pick it on their own in anything close to a reasonable time?
On the other hand, 6 or more people can pick through anything with reasonable effort, and a few dozen picks
For my group, the best raids involve little to no explosives. Exploit 'holes' in the base, pick a wall or two, hopefully gain build rights, and put everything back the way it was.
Then enjoy the moan in chat of 'hackers' who took their stuff.
I don't know. Raiding is still exciting to me. I don't do it much, but when we do it's exciting. Yeah. A lot can be done to make it better but that will done in due time. Make suggestions to make it better and don't be so negative.
Bring back being able to place ladders even when building blocked!

The toolcupboard was purely an anti-griefing tool when this was the case. No idea why they nerfed ladders as it went against everything facepunch said about toolcupboards.

i think tool cupboards should be removed from the game, but until there is an alternative to prevent greifing this is what we got. I imagine if they made making foundations a bit more difficult, like having to physically dig out the ground, or use dynamite to break holes in rocks to allow pillars to be placed, would make it more interesting, because erecting raid towers would take time, not instantly like magic.

Oh I know and I agree. It shouldn't be viable for 1 or 2 people to be able to pick through high tier walls (even though some power through it). It's just my gf and I that play and we've attempted to pick down just a wood wall. Far too boring so we stopped after doing like 20 HP damage. We went back and crafted a ton of bean can grenades and raided a small wooden base like that.
To each their own, but even with a larger group, I'd find picking walls far too boring. Bean can grenades are where it's at. Those poverty unpredictable fuckers are a blast. Pun intended.

Is banging on rocks to get sulfur less boring? Though you can put that effort towards quarry's for better output.
In the end its about managing resources. You have to size up your target, guess how much you think you'll get in return and act accordingly.
Its also a big reason for offline raiding, not because we don't want a challenge, but because people will flush their stash.
Is banging on rocks to get sulfur less boring?
Far less boring. I'm not staring at a wall for 30 minutes while my mouse button is taped down. I'm actually roaming around, finding other loot along the way and exploring radtowns, getting into fire fights, interacting with people. And then I get to have fun throwing my poverty explosives made from what I've scavenged. Yeah, I'll take that experience over hitting a wall for extended periods of time.
But again, to each their own. If that's satisfying for you; more power to you.

Well, that's the difference between focused effort, and just doing whatever.
Picking walls is for cost saving or stealth, not for the joy of it.
