• Footage of Rust with a steam controller?

Hey fellas, I'm wanting to pick up a steam controller before my new pc arrives, and I want to see my choice justified by seeing some good gameplay of Rust on the controller! Even if it's only a few mins it would greatly appreciated. If no one does, I'll make a video after I get all my shit. Cheers and Happy New Years! KinnaevoL Ps: I know Rust should simply just be played with a kb+m.. But I wanna play on my couch!
Last I heard you can't use a controller with rust, as easyanticheat pretty much treats any program that tries to run with rust as a type of "hack" kinda thing. (This was a few months back, but I've still never heard of anyone using a controller with rust before.) [editline]1st January 2016[/editline] If you really want to play on your couch, I would just get a decent wireless gaming keyboard and mouse and play on the couch.

It acts as a keyboard and mouse. Please do your research! Edit: people have already mentioned on this forum that the stems controller has been working great for them. You simply map all mouse and keyboard buttons to the steam controller and your games still think you're playing with a kb+m I believe. But yes already ahead of you, I have a good wireless kb+m just not as comfortable as a controller would be. Thanks for your time though!

I just thought back to a post I read ages ago and an eac guy said that it wasn't possible to use a controller with rust (must not have been a steam controller). I apologise for for the confusion.

I just really did two days ago. And it's steam not just some third party crap.
got a link to that post? and not everything that is blocked by EAC is some crappy third party software; most are actually high quality, well known peripherals with their own keybind software.
It was actually on reddit: https://m.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/3wuq46/steam_controller_for_games_like_rust/ And I know it's not crap, but in EAC's pov it all is. It's a steam program...all these games are on steam, the steam controller works on rust as simple as that. Edit: http://store.steampowered.com/universe/controller/ Works with all steam games. All.
not trying to piss on your parade but the reddit thread OP never says they played rust with it, closest is a vague "works great for me". and until i hear from someone who is playing rust right now on a steam controller, or one of the EAC peeps stating that the steam controller is not blocked, that advert really doesn't mean much. yeah it plays on any steam game; that is not equal to compatible with EAC:)

And I've never heard of anyone playing rust with a controller. And since even a steam controller would need some sort of software to do the keybinds, I still doubt that it will work with rust. eac blocks most third party software trying to run with rust (last I heard anyway). So I'm with mrknifey on this one.
So many armchair experts on how EAC works. EAC won't be triggered by Steam controller's keybind software in the exact same way Razer Synapse or similar isn't triggered by it. The guy asks a question and all we get is a bunch of people acting smart. ON TOPIC: I have no footage but looking into it. The controller is a couple of touchpad with mappable buttons, don't believe the tards that think EAC is gonna ban you.

We said we thought eac might block it. We were pretty much just saying we didn't think it was possible as we've never seen or heard of it working, and a while back someone from eac commented on a post saying that it wasn't possible to use a controller with rust (not saying that was a steam controller) No one is claiming to be an expert and neither of us were being smart. We simply offered feedback, it just happens that, that feedback was us telling him we don't think it will work. You were the only one getting smart. And I still won't believe it works until I see proof, or until someone from eac steps in and proves us wrong.

Jesus christ guys, took me 2 seconds on youtube to find this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlnIBnUJdfY 6:32 in, there's a configuration uploaded by bucksexington... It's buggy, but it works.

Also, where do you buy it!? The Store link tells you all about it, including an offer to get Left 4 Dead 2 and CS:GO free if you buy today, but no actual option to buy anywhere!? http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370 Was gonna buy one and try it out, but gave up after about 20 mins on the Steam site...
I also have my own modified version of the bucksexington config for the controller(I think mine is slightly better ^.^). I had a good controller set up the day the controllers were shipped. I never found any bugs with it.

Or was it that the Steam Store was selling them and now stopped? The Steam Store just says "Coming soon", which no option to "Buy": http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370

I got mine on the first wave of shipments IIRC because I pre-ordered. I imagine they are either Out of Stock or they are refining a second version with improved features after the feedback they got from v1.

For anyone interested in the debate of KB vs controller I tell you this: Rust is fun with a controller if you just wanna goof around. If you wanna get serious you will probably want to stick with the kb and mouse. There are nights when I just wanna sit back in my chair, relax, and roam around the world hitting trees and shit. The controller works REALLY well with Rust, better than some other games I tried like TF2 even. It will take some time to set up the controls to your liking, but the controller is VERY customizable and I doubt you will find something you can't do. I can honestly do most basic Rust functions with JUST the trackpads and triggers. I click right thumb to pick things up and I click left thumb to jump, left grip for spring and right grip for crouch, left trigger for aim, right trigger for fire, it all maps out very intuitively and I almost never need to use AB XY for anything.
Can anyone confirm that Razer Synapse works with rust?
Didn't know my thread would start a little bit of beef! Haha thanks all for doing all that research! And thank YOU zipper bear! That's all I wanted to see. Trust me, I tried googling multiple word schemes for trying to find a video with no luck. And for the guy who didn't want to piss on my parade? Fair enough, no one actually said in that thread that they had a steam controller. BUT on steam's OWN website... It says you can use it on ANY steam game!! I wasn't really keeping tabs on the controller but I thought that was common knowledge for anyone that knew it existed. Anyways, I'll be posting a mini series as soon as I get my controller in the mail! We'll see if I can try hard with it and fuck up some kids. I am a console gamer at heart so I gotta chance! Thanks all, KinnaevoL Peace and Love not War!
