This happened after connecting to a server with Rust's new update. My game crashed shortly after I spawned into the server, and everything in view was pink, so I wasn't able to get any more screenshots. The game left my PC stuttering and freezing for the next few minutes, because it was using too much memory?

If that only happens with Rust, it's a problem with the new update and there are a number of threads about the new update's issues. If you start to experience problems in other games, you may actually be seeing the early signs of graphics card failure. Don't panic if you do start to see minor problems in other games, though, it could also just be out-of-date drivers instead of a dying card.

Earlier, I wasn't even able to get to the menu until I updated my my graphics card, and there were issues prior to that with steam prompting a download for Rust after it was already updated minutes before opening and closing the game. I guess the simple solution would be to reinstall Rust, though it troubles me where this problem arose from.
