• Please make closing doors after opening them faster again.

I really don't understand why this change was made, but it is one of the most pointless and annoying changes I've seen in this game. (Other then pillars being placed the middle). It's not like in real life we have to fully open the door as wide as it goes, wait a second or two, and then be able to close it. And it takes sooooo long to get around a base with a lot of doors. This change adds nothing to the game other then making it take twice as long to get around your base, and making getting in and out of your base riskier. if the only point to this change was to make opening doors riskier then that is completely pointless as everyone makes airlocks anyway.
I cannot agree with this more. I get that they wanted to make it a bit more of a risk to open and close doors but I think this is silly. Why can't I close a door mid swing? Ruins the flow of the game. Really does need to go. In fact I don't play non-modded servers now. I always play modded servers with doors that close themselves just because of this. It's just no fun! Never used to go on modded at all but now...
Airlocks is a must have now. The new starter shack is a 1x1 with airlock.
Airlocks is a must have now. The new starter shack is a 1x1 with airlock.
Airlocks are the barrel, and you are the fish. Treat yourself right. 2x2 with roof open on airlock for roof access. extend your walls up so they can't boost up. This simple addition means you can drop down on door campers before there even are door campers.
I agree with OP, after opening a door it takes a full second for the curson to even highlight the door for close. This should be faster.
Especially now when the respawn timer on bags and beds are implemented. Do devs even want people to raid or get raided? Because both attacking and defending just got ten times harder to achieve. Rust is dying because people dont have time to invest their whole free time and getting almost nothing in return. You grind. What do you get in return? Only opportunities to risk losing that grind.. no wonder all the people are roof camping these days...

It isn't easy to build by a radtown and if you do having a sniper tower and seeing a person with loot you expect people not to take the shot? Most players don't have morals and could care less about people whining about people being farther then them in the game.

I raided several towers next to radtowns, and most of them only had an almost-empty chest with a few sleeping bags. You don't risk shit by roof-camping. Take a bolt, about 50 rounds, and shoot the crap out of all the people who are trying to loot the radtown. There's a difference between killing potentially hostile neighbors who might have loot, and shooting some random dude who at best has a spear and a stone pickaxe and who is trying to find barrels. But then again, 90% of Rust players act like massive dicks, so..
Ya man, this bs needs to be rolled back.
Agree pls revert
I'm probably the only one who likes the doors at this moment. Makes it harder to fight at your own base (can't just peek through doors by quickly opening/closing). Also makes it a bit harder for people that are running away to their own base when getting chased by an enemy because without an airlock, they run the risk of their enemies getting inside (aka going deep). To me, if something discourages you from basecamping or makes fighting at your base a little more difficult, it's a good thing because I personally hate the gameplay where everyone sits in their base 24/7 sniping on their towers. I like it when people actually go out and roam, looking for fights. Then again, the rather obnoxious doors might not be the appropriate way to tackle this issue of people always camping at their base and maybe they should be changed. But please, we need more stuff that encourages people to get out of their damn base first (airdrops, bolt action ammo being a different ammo type that costs more, etc. etc.)
I'd actually agree, I don't see a problem with them at all - that's why you have air locks in the first place. Why not make lighter armed doors open and close faster than heavier ones?
Why not make lighter armed doors open and close faster than heavier ones?
I thought about this too when I read a similar thread on Reddit. From a realism perspective it makes sense but then again I'm not sure if the utility of lighter armed doors would outweigh the protection of heavy armored ones, if everyone uses the heavy armored ones anyway, the change here wouldn't make much of a difference.
Yea I see your point, although it might encourage "lighter" doors in the more secure layers of a base?? How about a "power assistor" add on for a door, requiring power (cmon windmills/gens) that allow a door to open and close like in star wars like they used to!?

The doors are most annoying for wealthy groups that have huge bases with tons of doors. If there's a super expensive tool (only accessible for people with tons of resources) that removes the annoyance of opening/closing doors, I think that would be great

I don't see how making doors slower is going to stop people base camping in anyway, it's not even going to make it harder or anything at all. Not saying you don't have a good point, but what you're saying has nothing to do with the changes made to doors.

Simply put; if doors were faster it would make fighting at your own base easier. I don't like that, it's already too easy. But I see your point, the way doors work are probably not THE cure to basecamping although I do think changing them to be faster will make it worse... Which is why I'm fine with it for now.
You know there will be an sliding slot in the armored door right?
There was nothing wrong with closing door mid wing and nothing wrong with peeking either.
