can't load rust since last wipe/update on MAC please help

new here

so i can't load rust. was working fine before update. i have a mac, within the specs to run, as i said was fine before update.

i have re-installed rust, benchmarked (not sure if right term) to best servers for best speed, i have tried numerous 'launch commands' in rust->properties->launch options

i have re-started my machine multiple times

tried different servers

what happens is;

1. i load, wake up, take about 5 steps and the game stops responding - to which i have to force quit

2. it loads, no wake up command and i can be either 'sleeping' in the air or on the ground.

please help - very frustrating - great game and i would like to be able to play what i have paid for.
