I think the Devs have given the good admins a bad name with this change letting players see when things are spawned in using F1 Item List. While I do see the need for it, they're explanation makes us look bad.
I have owned both Legacy and New Rust servers for 3 yrs this month and I have over 4500 hrs of game play. I've seen and heard just about everything. I've seen admin abuse and I've seen people abuse admins as well. There seems to be this stereotype carried over from Legacy that all admins abuse and we can't be trusted to play like normal players on the servers we admin on.
Everyone just assumes admin abuse and it's not the case at all. One of my Admin Rules of Conduct (yes, I have rules my admins are asked to follow) is that they play like normal players until they are called upon to Admin, whether it be helping a player or cleaning up the server. I don't hire anyone under 18 yrs old and the two admins I have are over 40, like myself. We care about our players and try to give them a good game experience.
This morning I joined my server to hear how I raided a base and how used my "powers" to do so. This is a base I gave to the player and asked him NOT to let clan members into. Guess what? He did and that person blew thru some of the base looking for loot. The front door was not blown into, so this person automatically assumed an admin did it. This was not the case at all. His so called friend he let stay in the base did it. I ended up banning this 11 yr old boy because he got nasty with me and I will not stand for that type of behavior.
Admin get harassed and abused a lot more than you realize. People don't understand how hard it really is to be a good Admin. Most, not all do not appreciate the volunteer time we put in to make YOUR game experience fun, safe and fair. I explain in my rules addon that you have to hit the I agree button on before you are let onto the server that we don't abuse. That my admins play like normal players until they are needed to admin. Why can't we have fun and play the game just like everyone else? I have put in tons of time and lots of money to run this server, why the heck would I want to do something to run a player off?
Next time you decide to call Admin abuse, think about it first. Admin deserve respect, so stop being nasty and give it to them.
What are you trying to prove here? Tell your player base this... We honestly don't care/are affected by your statement.

See this is what I mean..... I don't like to use Admin powers to play...it's not fun and there is no challenge. It cracks me up how some of you think..... I'm shakin' my head right now.
Peace.
Create an alt to play as a non admin.
Hi! Thank you for your support;
as I said in my last post, due to a minority of bad admins, Garry decided to punish everybody. I think it's an unfair decision and this week is hard for admins.
He makes us look like cheaters , so that our main job in this alpha game, in my opinion, is to preserve players for that. WTF.
Ok so here it is. The best, and real only useful thing an admin can do is spectate sketchy players and ban accordingly. Outside of that, you're spawning shit to be some kind of cunt superhero and the people have spoken as to how "helpful" they find it.
The other concerning thing I see after this change was made is that these admins find it unfathomable that people are weary of anyone who wants to continue spawning shit unannounced. As if you don't see why, and as if you can't just get over it. As. If.
Leave administrating to people who can resist the temptation if you're convinced that you can't do your job without a million C4. Even little shit like spawning a hatchet when you wouldn't normally have one is a dickhead maneuver that spits on people who work for that shit. Maybe you're finally finding out how hard the game actually is?
I myself find this approach helpful:
I have kits on my server available to everyone.
I also have a hidden admin kit that contain... if you believe this..
1. Hammer
2. Blueprint
3. Candy Cane (theirs is several food items adding up to this)
4. Water Bottle (same as theirs)
5. Wood x10k
6. Lowest avail armor (same as their kit)
I give myself my kit when i log on, I throw everything away when i log out so if my body is found sleeping in the grass somewhere its not easy free loot. I use the wood to build small structures lined with traps and a prize at the end. My players love these little challenges, and they understand what I'm spawning and why, just nothing too specific or it ruins their fun.
I think people that are complaining about the chat messages for even existing arent connecting with their player base at all, and if thats the case, why are you admining?
Mods / Admins have the same powers right now, so I like the fact oxide has a kinda wonky permission system it lets me give chat controls / kick / ban to another trusted player when im not there without worrying about them cheating.
TL;DR
Too many opinions and not enough facts in this board.
The new update helps admins too though. If it's displayed in chat whenever the admin spawns something, players will know that no admin abuse is going on if nothing is displayed in chat. They'll trust no abuse is happening because they would see if it was actually happening.
It's not meant to give admins a bad name, they pretty much already have that going for them anyway. It's more likely going to clear up false-positives than create them.
OP whats your server, sounds like a good server to play on! Is it vanilla etc?
Don't let kids and meat heads who can't think outside the box for a legit explanation about how they were raided and end up blaming hackers and admins get you down. Last weekend I randomly guessed some noobs door code (2015) and when he woke up naked to find his boxes empty, but otherwise his base untouched, door locked etc, a lot of the aforementioned people would cry about it, but it was a perfectly legit move.
I don't understand how the new additions have affected people's trust in admins. If you need to spawn 1000 c4 for admin duties, then surely just announce it in chat before hand???
