I don't know if this is where I post it, I didn't see a forum link for Bug Reports anywhere, and I was told to report this crash error to Facepunch. I have been having this crash issue for 2 days straight now. I loaded up rust on May.5th 2016 at around 4:00pm, 1 hour after the wipe and update. Since then, every 10 minutes to 2 hours, my game crashes with this error message: Crash Report: 2016-05-05_XXXXXX (the X's represent random numbers). I am running this on a R7 250 1GDDR5 OC Edition and an Intel G3258 Pentium Duo Core Processor at 3.8GHz. I have never had an issue in the past with Rust, or any game at all recently, except Rust. The crash issue cannot be hardware related, because It's all 5 months old, and no other game has issues running all day. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been having this issue, and if so, if It's being worked on. Because I really enjoy playing Rust, and I'd like to continue sometime in the near future. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer me.

I have the same issue. I have been playing for over a month and never had a single crash (windowed mode) and since the update I crash anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours. No telling what or when that I can track so far. My audio always cuts out right before the crash. Sometimes I can tab off the crash dialog and continue moving around for a couple of minutes before it freezes completely and has to shut down.
I am having the exact same issue with my rust, ever since the update i have had this issue and i never had the issue before the update. I'm running a mini atx, amd fx 6300 6core 3.5 ghz, r9 380, hyperx 8gb ram. when i take an 1hr+ break the game can run from 40-120min. but once its crashes it happens almost after every wake up in-game, from there. I can still play the game while the error message popos up but eventually my game will freeze and then crash. I've tried uninstalling the entire game as well as verifying in my steam of the files and everything is good. I tried playing on the lowest settings as well as windowed and full screen. none of which, made a difference in the issue. I got buddies needin me in this game haha, pls fix this issue facepunch. thanks.
Could you post the crash log and output log from the latest batch to pastebin and link them here, OP? The logs actually contain diagnostic information that might help solve the problem. All the error message is doing is turning the "check engine" light on, basically. And the numbers at the end of the crash folder aren't random, they're the timestamp in 24-hour time.

And, I can't make out what's going wrong in the output dump; I'm not a dev, and I don't know how to interpret the really messy kinds of crashes. However, sometimes the log gives you an easy one and prints "Out of memory! Crash!" and is helpful and easy to spot. Are you running the latest AMD drivers for your R9 380?

I can't seem to avoid this error. i checked my drivers, verified files, etc. my friends are crashing as well but not with these error messages, they just simply have their applications close immediately. One of them with weaker video cards and processors. but none of them have this issue either.
Downgrade your Catalyst drivers by one stable version, the latest version seems to have issues with Rust. Make sure to fully uninstall the AMD software, and if you're unsure of how to downgrade properly google instructions how. If you're not careful you can cause Windows to fail to boot and require a system restore to recover. This is just the starting point, it could be other things. Does the same issue occur if you switch to the staging version in the Betas tab in Rust's properties in Steam?

I have been playing for a little over a month since about 4/9/2016. I have played on the same server. I never crashed the entire first month. Ever since logging in after the 5/5/2016 update/wipe I have been crashing non-stop. Sometimes I can go 2 minutes, other times 120 minutes or so. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. It's not only when it's raining, or only when it's dark, or anything else. Most of the time the game will keep going if I tab back to the game when the crash window is on top, but it only lasts a minute or two (and sometimes immediately) before it just locks up and I have to either tab back and click "OK" or restart the game using Task Manager. I have attached all of the crash reports I have in my folder (note they only start on 5/5). Yes I have updated my audio drivers. One of them is tied in with my video card (AMD) and the other is the brand new logitech headset I am using (has a USB dongle). I have updated them both. I have had 2 crashes today where I log into the server, and before I even have the chance to "click any button to wake up" it crashes. Literally, laying there on the floor. And at other times it lets me run around for hours.
I've been having this issue as well. I have 5 separate crash folders. I'll post them all so as much info as possible is present. 2016-05-07_020418: error.log - http://pastebin.com/qVZ7LHuh output_log.txt - http://pastebin.com/bUS4pdLK 2016-05-07_032542: error.log - http://pastebin.com/Fns7BnTU output_log.txt - http://pastebin.com/H9pUbT3S 2016-05-10_071312: error.log - http://pastebin.com/YFcQn1UP output_log.txt - http://pastebin.com/r0sXq408 2016-05-10_072246: error.log - http://pastebin.com/czP2UzMc output_log.txt - http://pastebin.com/f2huV2CA 2016-05-10_081130: error.log - http://pastebin.com/pY1hqH8i output_log.txt - http://pastebin.com/VX7MSGqX Hopefully there is an answer in there somewhere. (Headphones/speakers with analog jacks into a sound card/the tower, or a USB headset, or what?)
Some players are getting thwacked by a memory leak depending on their configuration. When rust uses up the available memory PC slows to a crawl and crash... I've been killing as many processes I can that are not needed when playing rust and it helps me out. Had experienced this many updates back but not as bad as it is now. The other day rust was using nearly 14GBs of ram.

My monitor is a 40" tv connected by HDMI when I'm not using my headset. But again, and I am stressing this part, I played for over a month without a single crash. No changes to my computer hardware or software, and immediately upon playing on the new update 5/5 I've been crashing ever since. I completely can't play PVP anymore, and have been looted due to random crash disconnects a half dozen times. I notice there is an update today, so hopefully that has fixed the issue. I will be able to know later tonight or tomorrow.

Try the 15.11.1 driver. I had different problems with the newest drivers but it is worth a try. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx
not trying to be a prick here, but your past month of play in this setup doesn't change that you now have a problem post the update;)
This is true. This is what I'm trying to figure out. But no matter what changes I do here it doesn't make a difference. I also have a dozen people I play with on our server that have been complaining about crashes since the 5/5 update. I was hoping maybe they found something and fixed it in the last update, but my crashes (and apparently the people on our server) have not seemed to change any. Is this a game-wide issue, or narrowed only to some players?

I have tried changing from my wireless headset to my HDMI audio, and that does not change my crash intervals or the crash reports. Try updating your audio drivers, Lightshard.
ok.....
ok.....
how did you go with the full driver uninstall/reinstalling a previous version? did you test out staging?
how did you go with the full driver uninstall/reinstalling a previous version? did you test out staging?
i fully deleted all my drivers for my r9, and installed the previous version as directed from the amd website. Then i went to the previous catalyst version and it didn't make a difference anyways .
Same issue here. Downgraded my nvidia drivers, upgraded my Realtek drivers, tried windowed mode, tried with headsets, uninstalled the game, nothing works. Game crashes as soon as I click on "play" to open the server list. It does not crash if I connect to a server in my history on the home tab.
I have been having the same problem after the update , really f annoying
I have narrowed my crashes to the rain. That explains the intermittent cause, and why sometimes I can go 2 minutes and sometimes 2+ hours. When the rain starts I crash. If I log back in while still raining, I crash again. Outside of the rain I don't crash for anything. This has only been since 5/5/2016. The rain did not crash me before that update.
