Features of laptop:
Windows 7 Home (x64)
Processor Intel core i7 3610qm.
RAM: 8 Gb
Video card: GeForce Gt 640m 1Gb
SSD: 120 Gb
At the same time on minimal configurations at a screen resolution of 1280x768 pixels with a ping of 11-13Ms values of fps are 10-13fps when viewing the building, a 16-22fps when viewed on a clear sky. In addition, I've noticed that when slowing down the CPU cooler is sometimes seen sharp and short-lived increase in productivity for 1-3 seconds while the FPS rises to 30 or above. Tell me what is the reason? How do I optimize my laptop for a comfortable game? Thanks in advance!
You must install linux it give you maximum perfomance.
Press F1 and go to "System information" tab. Check if it's your GT 640M and not Intel HD Graphics 4000 in use. If not, go to nvidia control panel and choose preferred GPU like this - http://i.stack.imgur.com/OOfnr.png

I do not think that Linux is supported by this game

In the nvidia control panel preferred graphic processor nvidia, checked it several times. In this way the game eats all 8 gigobayt of RAM, I know the game is processor-intensive, but in the past it does not lag on medium settings! (approximately 2-3 months nazhad there was no lag), recently reinstalled Windows, all necessary software installed and updated.

It is, but that's his answer for everything no matter how irrelevant it is.
kirdan32, Rust's performance will change. Sometimes it will be good, sometimes it'll be crap. The game is in active development, and when something's added, it isn't necessarily efficient and may slow the game down; it takes time to get something set the way you want it and then go and find how to make it work better and faster.
I also want you to look in Rust's system info, NOT the Nvidia control panel, and make sure that Rust says it's using your Nvidia and not your Intel HD. Depending on the situation, it doesn't matter what the Nvidia control panel says, Rust can still force itself to use the Intel HD, and when it does, you will get no frames.
If you have the determination and motivation to get a decent modern game working on any linux distro, and you are smart enough to do it, whilst facing adversity, when all others will fail, then, you will be a man my son.
A game running on linux will perform better than one running on windows in my opinion. But to advise someone in that direction is idiocy unless you know for sure that, that person knows their shit and is up for a challenge.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing ever goes smooth getting something to work on linux, but if you succeed, the reward is always better than windows.
Fuck Bill Gates and his greedy corp.
Your Gpu is weak , Laptops are weak for performance

!!!!!Solved the problem that cleaned the laptop and replaced the thermal paste.!!!! The fact is that when he heated the processor automatically off frequency, as well and video card. Now from 30 to 50fps, everything is stable, no lag
