Hallo guys,
i have own Rust Server, running with RustEssentials.
Many ppl likes community server more, than moded. But in community servers are the respawn rates of ressources for example rly low.
So i wanted to create a server where "Oldschool" meets "NewAge" Rust. Rly low starter kits, with weapon like HandCannon, which noone using in this Game, but they are rly funny!! And i want to show ppl that. Server ist just opened and nearly empty atm, so my question is, could someone try it and tell me your opinion about my server. Or better give me some sugguestions.
Server ID : 31.214.240.128:28200
Thx in advance

So many people are going to have different opinions, I don't know if you'll get a clear and concise answer...
For me, I strongly oppose mods of any kind. From what I've seen they tend to cause more problems for server owners than anything else... but a few plugins have their uses.
I'm also against starter kits, the beginning of the game is so harsh and wild, it seems counter intuitive to give everyone a headstart, but that's your prerogative.
I ran an event server for a time and it was mildly successful. I built a large 20x20(-ish) arena and would have events like deathmatches with all different kinds of weapons and whatnot, it seemed pretty popular but it really is a lot of work especially since I was the only admin.
This sucks to hear but I'd recommend not really playing the actual game on your own server... At least not at first. Get to know the regulars in chat, be entirely transparent about what you're doing, especially when it comes to godmode and things.
When I was just out and about admin'ing the server, I'd always wear invisible shoes, pants, and shirt, so people could see that I was a floating head. This made it really easy for people to tell that I was an admin and not just another player, which dramatically cuts down on false claims of admin abuse.
If you want to actually play on your own server, I recommend telling everyone:
"Hey guys, I'm going to actually play now. I've dropped all admin stuff, no inv armor, no uber hatchet, no spawned items. Godmode is off."
Just something quick and easy, it really builds trust, I think.
Anyways, those are my tips and opinions.
Yeah I tried to do what Sievers said, but I could never get a large enough player base to actually integrate myself into the gameplay, which was one of the reasons I rented a server in the first place. I did go a bit over-enthusiastic with the plugins (especially that damn economy which made everything WAY to easy to achieve), but who could blame someone who wants to see into the future of rust through the fans' eyes.
Thus, I have canceled my server because what player base I had decided to migrate into other servers or other games. No use in spending 30 dollars on a server that is completely inactive.
I could go and check out your server though.
