• I'm admin or superadmin in users.txt but still don't get admin in-game

Hello, Trying to set up a local dedicated server, and obviously the easiest way to run commands on it would be to be admin myself as the client. So I put my SteamID in users.txt and joined the game. I do get the chat message on connect: "Hey 'neatnit' - You're in the 'superadmin' group on this server," but when I try to do anything an admin would be able to do, I get told that I'm not an admin. I want to run a vanilla server for gamemode testing, so I don't want a mod like ULX or whatnot. Copy-paste of the last few lines of the console:
Hey 'neatnit' - You're in the 'superadmin' group on this server. Compact freed 659456 bytes Redownloading all lightmaps ] sv_cheats 1 Can't change replicated ConVar sv_cheats from console of client, only server operator can change its value
Any ideas why it isn't working? (I've also tried putting myself in the "admin" group instead of the "superadmin" group, with similar results)
-snip- Misread If your server is dedicated, you won't be able to run commands like that from the client console, those can only be ran from the host console.
Are you sure? I swear, it used to work (though I haven't tried it in several years). Did garry break it? Sounds super weird that only the host has access to admin commands, and there's no option to give this access to other users with vanilla. In that case, does users.txt have ANY purpose except scripts?
No, Garry did not break it. You can't change serverside convars from client. [editline]13th January 2015[/editline]
In that case, does users.txt have ANY purpose except scripts?
You can still use things like banid if you are admin defined in users.txt
Oh.. Alright. Thanks anyway.
Use the console to run sv_cheats 1 or install ulx and use the rcon command for it.
