Addons are not able to be installed, missing crosshair, Mac.

Hi there, facing a few issues with GMOD.
First of all, yes, I am on a mac, OS X 10.8.2
I have also ensured that the files are "addon.txt" not "info.txt"
These are the only games I have on steam: CS Source, CS:GO and GMOD.
I have also tried reinstalling steam and all of the steam games.
I also tried verifying the integrity of game cache.
I'm missing the crosshair, and all the addons I've installed aren't working.
Here's how the crosshair options looks like. (taken when there was no addons installed, fresh reinstall of entire steam and games)

These are the addons I have, they were downloaded via github svn, from the list http://diaspora-community.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9

Please help me out! Thanks in advance!
Bump, does anyone know of a fix?
You have to take the contents of your addon folder and extract them to garrysmod/garrysmod (e.g. the materials folder in the addon folder must merge with the materials folder in garrysmod/garrysmod, same with lua and models, etc.). That's the way I've found to get them to work, anyways, until Garry fixes it.
Hope that helped.

So addons are for now, completely broken for macs unless we do it that way?

Unfortunately yes. I think Windows XP users are having the same issue. I'm starting to regret updating to 13....

How about the crosshair, same issue for you?
Anyone knows if garry will fix this?
Hello folks, same problem here.
Got a MBP in summer 2012 was on OSX 10.7 but upgraded to 10.8 and decided to get gmod around september when gmod 12 and 13 beta was out. Now its just 13 but for all of them, not a single addon has worked. By either:
manual install,
renaming info.txt to addon.txt,
merging,
extracting while inside addons folder,
Hell i have copied them and placed them in every associated folder that is listed with them.
However I have a few exceptions. maps installed fine on gmod 12. I don't care for them anyway, addons are the bigger problem to solve. I have not tried this on gmod 13 yet.
While I was trying to install addons on gmod 12 I downloaded a fakefactory alyx model and threw it in there and forgot what I did with it. It half worked... an invisible alyx appeared with the little tool on her belt visible. She was shootable and killable and had alyx's voice but invisible. Still though not fully working.
Gmod 13 came and swept all my beta workshop addons away, so i was left with nothing. I got really pissed off at the time and money I wasted on it. Nearly a month has passed without playing it, so I decided to load up and do a little kill spree with zombies and whatnot. Had to download an update for steam and gmod 13. Did that.
Low and behold that fakefactory alyx appeared in my npc menu, icon and all. it works. Its not officially in the addons section of the spawnlists, but its visible and working. Im still new to this so i cant explain it. My only theory would be the updates?
I have tried re-creating this by looking at where those models files are in the gmod folder and doing it with other models. A similar affect with another fakefactory alyx this time a more up to date version. Still though thoroughly pissed off with the whole thing though.
And eagerly awaiting a fix/update/solution.
No fix yet? =/
No no fix. this is damn annoying. the stuff i want to add isnt in the workshop. and some will never be in the workshop because there too large. the workshop will never have files more than a GB or something.
I have been copying stuff allover the place with some interesting results, trying to get a pattern out of it
Latest update didnt fix it too, damn it!
You can check out whats in an update on his site, but i think he doesn't have much opportunity to work on a mac most of the time, could be a while waiting for a fix. Its likely that they know about it but have other more pressing problems.
Bump, please fix!
no fix yet/=
I just posted about it too. I know macs arent the majority, but this is game-breaking stuff. PC's have tiny issues, and they get fixed as a priority, mac issues like the old "no sound" glitch, totally ruin the game.
If we cant use legacy addons, there is no way to play 90% of the content in Garry's Mod
It's pretty much the going policy around here, our money isn't worth as much as PC users... For GM12, I did a ton of research and posting about game breaking OSX bugs, and none of them were addressed until GM13. So here's to hoping GM14 might have our fix.

Thank you SO much Owen, but like everyone else is saying we need an update soon. Plus, macs don't have a built-in "merge" option for copy-pasting.
