I have seen a lot of different answers and I would like to figure which is correct is it you need your .vtf, .vmt, and .mdl in your resource.AddFile so people can download your models and other important things.
Yes that is correct, i would recomend using a resource generator, for doing mass items. Then again, if you are force making clients download models and such i would recomend FastDL.
