Hello all. YouTube sent me an email today saying that if I upload an eligible video, they might stick ads on it and I might get some of the revenue. (Take note that I'm only curious about this, seeing as I have a part-time job.) However, in the T&C, YouTube says the following;
Your video is not eligible if it contains content that you didn't create or get permission from its creator to use. You need to be able to show written permission for the following video elements: - blah blah blah - Visuals: images, logos, software, video game footage, etc.
If I wanted to upload a Garry's Mod movie and put ads on it, would I need to have written permission? From Garry himself? How would I obtain this permission? Would I need anything else? Thanks in advance. :)
I see you have chrome, download the addon "AdThwart" and there will be no ads.
So you're becoming a Youtuber partner?
It depends, from what I understand Machinima is a YouTube partner and they're allowed to show game footage, so chances are you should just try to see if it'd pass the T&C.
@nutnuts: Erm, that's not what I meant. @Otto: I guess so. @Cake: Machinima is a fairly big bunch of people working in an office, so I take it they have the time/money to get permission. I'd probably have to do the same, which is why I came here to ask how to get the permission.
