randomly, my ping goes above 996 and it really irritates me, when it happens is random, it usually lasts for a few seconds. I'm not downloading anything. any ideas?

Depends what server your in?
Is it the same for all servers in all locations?
Your ping is your connection to the server, so if you say your not downloading it might be the server.
