Basically I want to get a server up and running that won't be officially announced, just a private one for me and up to 5 others to play on at a time.
The main question is, Do I absolutely have to use srcds? This seems like it is a very heavy duty method of hosting for a large server with high amounts of traffic, and I don't think it'd be that necessary for the small volume of players I'm planning on having, though I could be wrong about this of course.
I already have the srcds up and running locally, have all the kinks worked out and I just need to slap in a few useful plugins, so running it is not the issue, it just seems very hefty, and I would like to have everything I'm running be as simplistic as possible considering the small private nature of what I am attempting to do.
I appreciate the time anybody puts in to read this, and I really hope that I can get some help. I also apologize if this is the wrong section, or even forum/site to post this, it just seemed like Garry's mod's official forum.
Thanks!
SrcDS is the server program that all Source games use, so unless you use the "Create Multiplayer" function from within the game itself, you're only going to host a server using SrcDS.
I see. Thanks a lot! :]
