Only 8 people are allowed on the server, so not that much stuff is used to let them join, but I get a ton of server long aswell as the others because I don't have a lot of ram. How do I add more to the server?
turn off the server, open the server box, insert stick of ram, close server box, turn on server box.
On a serious note, this is not like minecraft, srcds will use all the ram your server has installed if it needs to (as far as i know) with only 8 people it shouldn't be causing lag unless everyone is spawning a couple hundred props or npcs
Gmod hardly uses more than 1 GB of RAM. You may wanna change your tickrate (if it's too high) and make sure that props aren't being spammed.
I have a server with 1 gb RAM, holds 32 players fine, it only depends on the CPU.

Just open up a ticket with your server provider and ask them to up the ram, you may have to pay more though.
