• How do you link HL2 and TF2 files with your dedicated server?

I'm looking for figure out how do you share files between games so that we're able to see and spawn models such as TF2 ragdolls or the HL2 stunstick. I have TF2 installed on my computer, but since the server doesn't contain the files I can't spawn them. How do I install the models to the server?
Still need help.
You need to install the game on your server and mount it. [editline]27th March 2013[/editline] Http://maurits.tv/data/garrysmod/wiki/wiki.garrysmod.com/indexd85f.html?title=General_Server_Setup_Information#Extra_content should help
So this means I'll basically have to redownload all of the files via the hldsupdatetool? Will Garry's Mod recognize the folders or will I have to point it to them?
Garrysmod should automatically find them and mount them. If not there is a config file somewhere. P.s. try before messing with the configs first.
Garrysmod should automatically find them and mount them. If not there is a config file somewhere. P.s. try before messing with the configs first.
I will try downloading it tonight since my Internet isn't that fast and I'll let you know the results tomorrow.
Alright, I downloaded the TF2 files, but it isn't working. I may have downloaded them to the wrong place. My Gmod is located in Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer\orangebox\garrysmod Should my TF2 folder be in Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer\orangebox or Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer, or are both wrong? The folder containing the TF2 files is called "tf".
Update: I downloaded CSS and was able to mount it successfully, however TF2 is not working. I have the tf folder in the orangebox folder, but it doesn't want to mount.
Did you have to do anything special with CSS (like moving the cstrike folder)? If so try that with the "tf" folder If not, then you may have to tell it to mount in the config file somewhere (I'll check in a min)

I had to go into the "css" folder I downloaded and copy the "cstrike" folder into the orangebox directory. However with the "tf" folder, there is no folder inside I can copy like that, because you have all of the random folders such as materials, models, sound, etc. in there.
Try moving the "tf" from TF2\orangebox\ folder to Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer\orangebox\
Try moving the "tf" from TF2\orangebox\ folder to Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer\orangebox\
Whether you mean the TF2 folder in my normal Steam directory (SteamApps) or the TF folder that I downloaded via the hldsupdatetool, there is no orangebox directory.

This is my folder makeup. First window is my copy of TF2 (non-server). Second is my GmodServer directory. Third is my orangebox folder (for Gmod). Fourth is my TF folder I downloaded from the hldsupdatetool
P.s. you're in the TF folder in orangebox...
P.s. you're in the TF folder in orangebox...
I know. Earlier I said "I have the tf folder in the orangebox folder, but it doesn't want to mount."
Then I'm lost. sorry.
Then I'm lost. sorry.
Perhaps I should re-download TF2? My folder makeup looks a lot different than yours. Maybe something went wrong. What about that cfg file you were talking about?
Couldn't find it, but I've seen it before. I'm pretty sure it's just enable all by default.
Couldn't find it, but I've seen it before. I'm pretty sure it's just enable all by default.
I'll try re-downloading TF2 then. Since the folder where I have it installed is GmodServer, I should enter: hldsupdatetool -command update -game "tf" -dir GmodServer Correct?
no, C:/Valve/HLServer/TF2 <-- assuming Valve folder is on the C drive (root of the C drive)
Actually it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer, but I get what you mean.
Thank you very, very much Pandaman. I redownloaded it, and took the tf folder in the TF2/orangebox directory and placed it in my GmodServer/orangebox directory. 100+ Winner rates to you :)
