• Old Dog New Tricks? Making older laptop run Gmod properly.

So long story short. My good laptop which I did my gaming died on me due to my dipshit of a sister dropping it...anyway Im forced to use an old 2007 Hp Comaq laptop to game on. Gmod runs but way slow. Like slower than an arthritic turtle in bullet time mode. I just defragged the thing and am running that gamebooster 3 program by iobit on there but didnt make much difference. I have gmod installed along with my steam stuff on a Ex HDD 1.5 TB. 2GB of RAM..about 24 GB left of actual memory left. Runs pretty well with all my other games..aside from like my steam games. I was playing Oblivion on there just fine without all the stuff I did..but I digress! Any ways of boosting my laptops Raw power without buying more RAM online. Seriously..last time I ran gmod it took 34 minutes to load. Here are the specs of my laptop..if anyone wants to get technical Im more than willing to listen. Thanks for the Help. Why did you send us all of that info regarding the processes. If you want to try to run it, and you're afraid of other processes taking up your little available processing power, just re-install your OS from scratch, install steam and GMOD, and set the settings to low [editline]11th December 2011[/editline] If all of that is done already, and you're not getting the results you're after, then I think you're better off trying to run it on something a little higher end, but still, it should still run, but possibly not that good. You'll have to try it out and less us know what happens.
2GB of RAM? I can run Gmod at lowest settings in maps with no water on an ancient 512 KB RAM laptop with built in graphics while running Dropbox, obviously Steam and a few other little processes
