as the name says, ive lost some of the sounds in garrys mod after a serious clean up, i believe they were the footsteps and gunfire since they wont make and sound at all. Ive already done the verify thing with steam, but it hasn't brought them back, so if may ask, could someone PLEASE post a folder with their default garrys mod sounds here, PLEASE?
Delete your download and downloads folder.
need an explanation on how that would help? what would that hold that is important
The sounds are probably being overwritten by a custom sound a server sent.
sorry, but that still didn't work. please, all i need are the default sounds and i think ill be fine
You can get the default sound from the .vpks.
where is that at?

when click on any of them it says its not a valid source engine add-on
Do you have GCFScape?
no i do not, is it in the folder?
No. Google GCFScape and download it to open the .vpks.
is there a tutorial on how to use GCFScape to open them, dont want to bother you on how to do it step by step.
When the program installs, it should automatically be the default program to open the .vpks. Otherwise, you can open GCFScape, go to File -> Open and navigate to the .vpks.
found the weapon sounds, but not footsteps. where would they be?

Be aware that garry's mod doesn't contain all the source engine sounds. I suggest you gets the sounds from the hl2_sound_misc_dir.vpk located in:
Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2
