• TTT shooting cases lag

Hello I recently started hosting a ttt server from my own cumputer using steamcmd. We were never more than 5 and the server always seemed to run smoothly. Today i had a total of 7 people on it and everyhing went fine at first. The moment people start shooting each other, everyones ping rose from 40 to 200+. Holding fire for some time sent the ping back down. My ping stayed at 5 throughout the whole game and everything was running fine from my point of view, but for everyone else the game felt unplayable. Someone suggested that my cpu is too bad to run the server. Can a bad CPU really be the problem, or is it something else? I would appretiate any help
The only reason your ping is at 5 is because it's hosted locally. I suggest just buying one, you can find a host that hosts $1 a slot or if you're feeling cheap there's a few that have 35 - 50 cents per slot.
I mean, if you can't run a server with 7 people on it, well then you probably will need a better computer or host. Just a suggestion.
Not the point and probably not what he wants to do. Post specs of which the server is running on and post those speed tests if you have any, you can optimize the server to make it lose bandwidth and less cpu usage which would cause less lag.
you are right, I would rather avoid paying for a server. My specs are the following: GTX 770 AMD Phenom 2 X6 1045T ( 6 CPUs) ~ 2,7 Ghz 8 GB Ram I also ran some tests on my internet connection, though the results for the uload speed varied depending on which site i did the test. download speed : 5,8 Mbit/s upload speed : 150-500 kbit /s Could you please specify how I can optimize my server?
Exactly what i was looking for. Thanks.
