So me and my friend are trying to start a Garry's Mod server on a Ubuntu [no GUI] server edition.
But the problem is i have no idea how to do all this stuff neither does him.
If someone can explain to at least have some kind of remote web GUI so we can control it, that would be wonderful
Specs for the server,
Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.40GHz, 4 cores
8 GB RAM
Ubuntu Linux 11.04
And also my friend does not have Garry's Mod yet so is there a way to just host the server off of my steam account?
Cheers
Install NX Server on the Server, there are quite alot of tutorials, it's the best remote desktop client out there.
So, if I'm understanding correctly, you don't have any control over the box?
If you have no control over it you cannot install a web GUI.. If the box is in your house then try putting a monitor/keyboard etc.. on it temporarily. If the box is at a remote location try opening a support ticket with the provider.
the server has Putty and Webmin installed all controllable remotely but i have by far no experince in source server running and yet i cant test one because i am running Macintosh 10.7 so no wine.
it runs a minecraft server on mcmyadmin but im assuming that's much different.
my point is how do i remotely control the garry's mod server on a webhost?
and how do i correctly run it on ubuntu/linux without a gui? from webmin or something?
Ah, you want a game control panel, I gotchyou.
