• Addon help?

I have tried adding addons from garrysmod.org and they either don't work or came up blank. I have looked at several sites that may help bit none of them did. Referencing the image below, are the vmt and vtf files below supposed to look like the files above them? I'm not really that good with computers so that could be the problem, but maybe I could get some help? http://www.flickr.com/photos/7725932...in/photostream
http://www.flickr.com/photos/7725932...in/photostream
You have provided the wrong link. It has "..." in it. I can't really say much because I don't know which addon are you talking about exactly. You should read the addon instructions before installing it. But mostly when you download an addon from GarrysMod.org you end up with a folder. Let's say that folder is called "Spidermen". Most of the time you will have to move that folder to your Steam\steamapps\YourName\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons folder. Then you can check from Garry's Mod main menu - Extensions if the game sees and loaded the addon. Check the picture below: In some cases addon has to be installed differently, for example instead of addons folder it should be placed in the garrysmod folder. But the addon creators always give instructs how to install it properly if the addon shouldn't be placed in the default addons folder.
Oop :s Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/77259325@N04/6934687380/in/photostream I had one folder where I followed the instructions and had the model but it was invisible. I redownloaded it like one member suggested but it was still invisible.

I couldn't find the answer anywhere so I tried out a solution on my own. I downloaded an Xbox console prop mod, but it wouldn't work. Until I noticed it didn't have an info text file or settings folder. Most mods I've downloaded didn't have either. Basically what I did was I had to add my own info text file and do my own settings folder. And... then they showed up. Couldn't get an NES console prop mod to work, added the info and settings folder and... it worked. This is VERY tedious if you have a lot of models in a folder. But it fixed my problem. I can now have Garrus and Legion fighting over who get's to play super mario brothers.
@Finncq it would be helpful to know the addon name or link to garrysmod.org which one are you trying to install.
I think I have the solution to props not showing up.
Wow... well one of the files I had did have one. But the files were blank. Um... this may sound stupid but how do I make the text file? I know what to put in it I think. Oh, and I tried to download these but ran into problems of not knowing where to put them. Well I tried to install 2 of the addons that you listed. CoD Sniper and an Anime chick. As you can see on the screenshot below they work perfectly fine for me. I'm pretty sure you are not installing them correctly or you simply can't find them in-game. For anime chick, the Black Shooter something you simply have to place the addon folder into garrysmod\garrysmod\addons folder then when you turn on the game the addon should be listed in the GMOD Main Menu - Extensions. Her model you will find in the Props section on the very bottom. CoD Sniper is different. He's not an addon. You will find "models" and "materials" folders inside the .rar file. You simply have to place these two into your garrysmod\garrysmod folder and overwrite. Now... finding the model. This is a bit tricky (specially if you have over 50 custom models). One thing that this model author forgot to mention that it is IMPORTANT to "refresh search cache". If you don't know how to do it, it's only one button click, I've putten a screenshot below. Without doing this, the new added models will not appear if you try to search for them by their name. The sniper model name is "Ghillie". Thank you so much! One more thing, if you don't mind, are these the same sorta deal with the addons folder? http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1160201

http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1160201
That what you linked is not a GMOD extension. Source engine models end with .vtx. And those files are 3D model saves for 3D modeling program. If you are looking for CoD models you should be looking for something already released and converted to GMOD. Like this for example.
Well, I did your instructions but the ghillie is still invisible. However, it worked with another model. Also, does this: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=129412 Need Counter Strike? They game up as that gross pink and white pattern.
Pink color means you are missing texture. You usually get it when a custom model requires another game texture and you don't own that game. In this case, CS:S. And about your "invisible" model I don't know.. You will have to Google why you can't see it.

What the... Steam told me trial version is done or something so I accepted, now I can't open GMod.. It opens then freezes.
