Mine began to crash as you describe yesterday. Turns out TF2 had an update, and since my GMOD has TF2 mounted, it caused my GMOD to crash every time it began to load.
I fixed by going to [B]steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\cfg[/B], opening [B]mountdepots.txt[/B] in Notepad++ and removing the section to do with TF2.
It only crashes when im loading a world or game
