Recently, I began monitoring my GPU and CPU usage while playing. While I'm looking towards heavy areas (~15FPS), my GPU usage is only at 40%, and my CPU usage is around 20-25%
Shouldn't my GPU usage be higher? Why won't it go up to 75-80% usage to maintain at least 30 FPS.
While doing some research, I stumbled upon multithreading. Does GMOD use more than 1 core currently? I found threads from a few years ago that said GMOD doesn't support multithreading, but I'm not sure if this has changed.
If it is limited to one core, is there console commands or commandline options I can use to get GMOD to use at least 2 cores?
Thanks in advance for any help or information!
Gmod is limited to 1 core and there is no way to change that.
Garry really needs to make Gmod use Multi-cores. It Improves the performance A LOT.

The lua won't support it. From what I've heard he tried and it just got messed up.
I didn't know Lua ran on the GPU.

There's a difference between the game and Lua. Lua isn't lagging. The game is.
Oh god.
I didn't realize that gmod only ran on 1 core until I bought a server with 5.
Lesson learned. :eng101:
for some reason i just started getting very low FPS. I haven't downloaded anything and it worked perfectly last night. Hmm :/

The OP was discussing GPU usage. Someone else said it wasn't optimized because Lua didn't support it. I took from that that they implied Lua ran on the GPU.
