Every time I pick up a hammer on zombie survival on a certain server it makes me drop it and I can pick it up again but I will drop it again.
Facepunch can't do anything about it, try talking to an adadministrator on the server.
It could be a punishment for making an extremely terrible barricade. Some select servers use an administrative command that prevent players from nailing items or using hammers, so I'd check there first. Other than that, it could be a bug on the server owner's/dev's part.
