Random lag [FPS]

Hi, I've been experiencing random FPS lag.. an example:
I'm usually 40-60 FPS on DarkRP then every 3 minutes it drops down to 5-10 FPS for about 5-10minutes then goes back up etc.. it's a repeating process.

This only happens on DarkRP, I've even downloaded a CFG to try and remove the spike, but it only raided my non-spiked FPS higher which is good, although it didn't fix the spikes.

I've noticed 1 thing though.. sometimes it shows something like gunsmoke.lua(I think it's .lua) was unable to something.. (I don't remember it exactly)

Sometimes when this happens I lag, but the message doesn't always show up.

Whenever I fire my gun my FPS drops a ton.

My theory: whenever a gun is fired, my FPS drops. (Not just my gun)

How do I fix this?

Edit: It said [@effects\effect_mad_gunsmoke\init.lua:22] Tried to use a NULL entity!

But I did not lag when that happened.. So I don't think it's gunsmoke.. not sure.. I'd really like it if I could enjoy gmod for once :P

Well if a gun is fired and you lag that usually means you have a bad graphics card. Do you lag when not on DarkRP?

I don't lag at all when I'm on other servers such as Noobonic Plague. I get 60+ FPS constantly.

I don't think it's guns, I just noticed that whenever I fire it doesn't lag me anymore.
But I still get the FPS drops..
