After Update 160, Portal 1/2 content stopped mounting. Portal 2 content actually only mounted once, but I know of more people who have it mounted and working.
Now Portal 1 and 2 just appear with little [-] boxes in the Games tab and you can't even spawn anything from the spawnlists.
After SteamPipe, TF2 sounds stopped kind of working. At first all you could hear was bugging noises and now you can't hear anything, as the sounds are labeled as being missing from the disk/repository.
Any ideas?
Update 162 should fix this. Report back when you've tried that update (was released today).

Point is, TF2 sounds bugged out before 162 and outright stopped "existing" after 162

Have you made sure that all of the mounted games have been converted to the new file saving format steam introduced a while ago?

I've converted Portal and TF2 just a day or two ago. Portal 2 has been stuck updating for a while though because I kind of neglected it and decided to leave it unupdated.

Then you should probably convert it! :eng101:
One thing you could try would be unmounting everything but TF2 to check if the sound problem still persists. Same procedure for portal 1 and 2.
Verify your TF2 files, I had this problem before and that fixed it. Also try doing the same with Portal, as for Portal 2, go with what Pred said.
Alright, after verifying TF2 and Poortal 1 then converted Portal 2, no advancements were made.
TF2 sounds are still missing from disk/repository and Portal 1 still doesn't mount.
This is also the case for Portal 2, once again.
Any other ideas?

Did you try to test out one by one? Like only leaving TF2 mounted etc?

Yup. No dice.
Yup. No dice.
Then I'm at loss, man.
Could try defragging to see if that helps any. Doubt though. Then there is the option to reinstall and see if that helps (not gmod, but games you are mounting).
Try this:
Unmount games.
Restart GMod.
Mount games.
He's already said he tried that. There was another thread about Portal having mounting issues, portal 2 has always been an issue for some, but besides the new steampipe update, I have heard no problems about TF2.
EDIT: Never mind, he only said he had left it to where TF2 is on.

there
this is kind of getting on my nerves, i'm starting to consider just extracting content from vpks and seeing if it works at all

I was sort of talking about the restarting of Gmod in between. Sometimes, for me at least, it doesn't unmount properly until I restart the game.

I did restart, didn't work.
Portal 2 started working out of the blue, but Portal 1 and TF2 remain unfazed.
