• Identifying missing textures on maps to replace them
    2 replies, posted
Once in a while I download a map that has a random texture missing somewhere. Is there a way, without decompiling everything, to identify the name of the texture so i can replace it? I looked in the console and did not see anything.
in the console, it will say *file name here* is missing. you may find it off a website if it is a custom model or texture. if it came from a game from steam, then you must buy that game, and mount it.

[/QUOTE] The missing texture could be a base texture for a mounted game (it would usually say in console), a custom texture/model, or included in the .bsp of the map. If it's missing, it either means that the map creator didn't include in in the .bsp/Pakrat or whatever it's called, or you don't have the game it uses mounted. If you tell me the name of the map, I could see if I'm missing it.
