• HELP! Can't play any maps (at least in single player)
    13 replies, posted
Hello.. i wasn't playing gmod for the last 2 months, then yesterday i said "OH, let's see if Garry fixed his game.." So, i was going to play just a single player game just for test some addons from the Workshop.. But, when the game finished loading the map... a Black Screen appeared and nothing was happened... I opened the task manager, and it was saying that the game was "Not responding".. so i closed it.. I tried with lot of maps and the problem was still there.. i deleted the addons/download folders and unsuscribed all my addons and the problem was still there.. i FULLY uninstalled and downloaded the game again, and the problem was still there.. Any idea of why is this happening?? Thanks for your help..
How long are you waiting when it happens?
When you uninstalled the game, did you delete the entire garrysmod folder? If not, try that, and just save any important things you have on there if you do.

Check your GMod root folder, are there any .mdmp files? If no, 1. Turn off Steam Cloud Syncronization. 2. Validate your GMod files by right clicking --> Properties --> Validate Integrity of Game Cache 3. If that once again does not work, delete your Garry's Mod folder (or rename it garrysmod_old if there's anything in there you would like to save) and reinstall.

I did all except the 1st point.. i'll check that.. EDIT: nope... it doesn't work neither :(
Seems like an external computer problem then not being able to load.
Seems like an external computer problem then not being able to load.
im uploading a video right now.. But i was able to play it just fine before.. i have no idea what is going on, i haven't changed any feature of my computer.. What were the last things you did before this happened, Have you made any changes what so-ever to your garrysmod or computer, It could possibly be your processor/video card burned out....Does your game work in multiplayer/Any other Source games? eh, Never really seen this before....I'm stumped beyond that, If your game works in multiplayer and not singleplayer I believe it COULD be steampipe but I'm not sure... Extra solutions (off the top of my head): try compatibility mode; If your game crashes check for any dump files and upload them; Make sure you uninstall your addons as well, instead of just deleting the file (go to addons>Subscribed>uninstall (On each addon) then try to play singleplayer; (last resort:) Do a system restore, It could be something with your computer, However if other games/Multiplayer works I wouldn't think so. For un-installing your game, Delete your gmod folder/Right click gmod (in steam)> Delete Local Content>Re-Install game>Update all source games to steampipe (Either way they are broken but it could help)

I will try compatibility mode, and the game doesn't crash.. it stays opened, and i had to close it myself.. it doesn't create any dump file :/ I unsuscribed/uninstalled the addons as well, i deleted the whole garrysmod folder and installed it again..
Have you made any changes to your garrysmod/computer before this happened or did this just randomly happen one day (maybe after an update) - since other source-games work it can't really be steampipe so I just see it being something corrupted in your gmod folder, However another problem lays with that because you say you re-installed your game.....yeah stumped here again EDIT: Waitttttt a second, Someone had a problem sorta like this....You havent played gmod in a while (2 months) and then it broke, Same thing happened to someone else.... How that person fixed it: Suggest you do the same, Sadly you will have to re-install EVERYTHING but it would fix it (most likely), This person had a similar problem to yours.

Well, this is something weird! but i tryed to join in a multiplayer game.. The first time, it happened this.. but the second time, it joined perfectly with any problem! and i was able to play... but just in Multiplayer! not in Single-Player... And, i just uninstalled some games so i can install Bioshock, i uninstalled Half-Life 2.. But it's not necessary to have HL2 installed as far as i know.. and i was able to play multiplayer so, that's not the problem... Also, i want to be able to play singleplayer because where i live, the ping of ALL the servers of this game sucks! all of them have at least 200+ of ping..
Gonna have to try to find servers hosted close to you for the ping problem.... However, That looks like its corrupted or something because of updates, but like I said if nothing else works, Gonna have to re-install steam entirely. Good luck
