Recently (probably a few months ago), I cannot play on a Garry's Mod server which uses CS:S content because the content is simply missing. The only way to fix the issue is to validate CS:S files every time I want to play Garry's Mod, which gets tedious. I have CS:S installed. I was hoping some of you had the same issue and managed to fix it, and would be able to provide me with the fix as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
When I installed CSS but went straight to a map that required CSS textures, I still got the purple checkerboard. You have to play CSS atleast, start it up and create a single player server, play a few rounds because I know you'll try to, then it should work.
Also, if you have a srcds based server, you wanna put cstrike into the orangebox folder, not the css folder (take cstrike out of it) or else balls.
I have CS:S installed and I have played more than a couple of rounds. The problem was that every time I would turn off the computer, I would have to re-validate all the CS:S files or else Garry's Mod would be missing all CS:S textures.
Also, I am not looking for a cheap way out, I am looking to permanently fix this issue, so the server cstrike folder trick is not the way I want to fix this problem.
Either way, none of this matters to me because I fixed the issue by completely deleting and reinstalling Steam and my games. Thanks for the help though.
