FPS gets worse with every update - This one breaks the last straw.

As many people have been reporting, Garry's Mod has been giving lower framerates since Gmod 13 was officially released. I want to make it clear that my GPU is not bad, it's mid-tier (Nvidia Geforce GT 540m). Prior to the release of Gmod 13, I would be getting a solid 60-70 FPS on gm_construct (clean) with settings maxed. After Gmod 13 was released, I got anywhere between 30-40, rarely breaking 40. That was irritating. However, after the latest update the straw finally broke. I can't even go past 30 FPS anymore in Gmod, I'm stuck in the low 20's. I'm still getting pretty solid framerates in every other Source game (ranging from 40-70 depending on the game), but Gmod is seriously bugged. In fact, I loaded koth_lakeside_event in TF2 and stood in a particular spot and observed my FPS, it was about 50. Then I loaded koth_lakeside_event in Garrysmod and stood in the same spot, and my FPS was stuck in the low 30's. I did this test before the latest update though, so I have no reason to believe it has gotten any better.
I'm really not looking for a personal solution to this problem, I'm looking to submit some more insight into this bug to try and help the devs see what the problem may be. I really want to see this fixed, as do many others.
agreed I have a half ass graphics card that is on board. that is supose to be "HD" it ran every version of GMod prior to 13 just fine now. even if I set my DX lvl down to 6 No improvments to my FPS WHY?
something needs to be fixed?
The most recent update (149/150) really took quite a chunk out of my framerate. I only get half of the FPS I used to get on gm_construct now.
GTX 560 Ti here and the only time my Framerate drops is when I use 3 or more lamps.

Same here, minus the Ti edition.
Runs fine for me.
besides 50- 60 fps is more than enough anyways. ESPECIALLY if you run fraps. I wouldn't personally complain about 30 fps so long as it runs smooth still.

I'm getting 60+ on Night of a million zombies

35-50 on NOAMZ
Well I'm currently getting low 20's on gm_construct in single player with nothing spawned. Before This update i was getting about 35, and before Gmod 13 I was getting about 70. The game is deteriorating.

you're complaining about 20's? I'm used to a steady 16 fps on my old old card. Though, I can relate :v:
I admit though the higher the better but still. I closed a graphics heavy background application and getting 40 on a zombie map. What card do you have?
I'm getting 200+ FPS on my GTX 680 :)

Yes I'm complaining about low 20's, seeing that I didn't pay for a card capable of high 60's to get low 20's in garry's mod
Nvidia Geforce GT 540m.
Same. I have noticed a performance drop on my 2012 MBP with a Nvidia GTX 650 1GB.
On the old flatgrass map (not flattywood).
• Pre 13 - 180 frames
• At 13 launch - 120 frames
• With wiremod installed(not entirely garry's fault) - 40 frames
• Now - 25 frames without wire, 10 with
The game is now unplayable for me if I have wiremod installed. Yes my computer is shit. No, thats not the point. This is a borderline bait and switch, there was nothing wrong with the game before. By the way, go test your fps with and without wire, and then go bug the wire devs to fix their shit. Wiremod eats framerate ever since gmod 13 launched.
I get better FPS than you with my crappy laptop video card (NVS 5100M). 50 FPS on average on koth_lakeside_event.
My FPS really took a hit. I wanted to play EFT with some friends and I was lagging so badly I could hardly turn my mouse without freezing.
On top of that, about two updates ago my paint tool stopped working, which I use for posing. So now the game is pretty much unenjoyable for me.

If this is true then it may be that the bug is only effecting a certain line of GPU's. Which could be crucial info if anyone were to find a fix.

I wasn't aware wire was having an impact on FPS, I have wire as well. If that's the case then the FPS problems I've been experiencing before the latest update may not be entirely garry's fault. Interesting.
But that still doesn't change the fact that there is still a serious issue with the game right now :/
Im seeing an immediately obvious fps drop in build 150
intel q6600
ati radeon 6850
Apparently it was just a bug that's been fixed for the next update.
Fixed scene rendering twice
A huge, embarrassing, code merge related bug. This would explain multiple other bugs people were seeing, like low FPS, iron sights not working and halos sometimes not showing.
Though I don't see any word on fixing the face poser tool.
Everyone with FPS problems, including me seems to be running a Intel i5-i7 CPU, with a NVIDIA GPU.
In case it helps, these are my specs:
CPU : Intel i5-2450m
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M 2GB
Anyone with FPS problems that's not running similar hardware to me?
Stuck with a laptop with an Intel GMA 3000 and an i3 here... On a busy day I get 5 FPS, and my desktop with a Radeon HD 5450 and a Phenom II X4 945 doesn't fare much better :(
Hope the update that's supposed to fix some of this gets rolled out soon, because this is really ruining my gameplay experience and I'm not cranking out a few hundred dollars just to get Gmod running at a decent playable framerate...
I will admit that the last few updates have made GMod much less fun. Not exactly because of the Frame-rate drop, but also because Portal 2 and L4D2 don't seem to mount at all (Never mind the fact that L4D ragdolls have been partially invisible since GM13 came out...). Things like face-posing not working, and a lot of other small annoying glitches mean I haven't really played much GM13 for the last few days. I actually tried getting an update SVN beta for the first time EVER. (I had to install TortoiseSVN because I'd never needed it before.) and in the end, I couldn't even get THAT to work.
I find it hilarious that some time shortly after gmod13 launched the system requirements were stealthily changed from what they were in gmod12, just so if people have performance problems they can use the "get a better machine" excuse instead of fixing their fucked up game.

Yea, well the patch rolled out that fixed the super-low FPS bug, so I'm back up to ranging from 30-40 FPS on clean gm_construct - Which is still unacceptable(for my PC), especially compared to what I was getting in gmod 12.
Edit: Uninstalling Wiremod gave me about a 10 FPS boost, which puts me from 40-50 FPS (if you couldn't do the math yourself). This is alright I suppose, its still lower than what I was getting in gmod 12 but the new gm_construct is more detailed - so i suppose a range of 40-50FPS may be normal. So it turns out a huge portion of this problem is, in fact, the wiremod teams's fault. Not Garry. Which is a shame, because I can trust Garry to fix shit. I don't know if I can trust the wiremod team...
Moar edit: The latest version of wire seems to be much more well optimized, and no longer substantially decreases my FPS. I suppose I am satisfied for now, but I still feel like my FPS should be higher...oh well.
Wire was fixed right after I posted that :P
