Crosshair turned into Q and other hud font mess up

So i joined a server and the crosshair was a Q. weapons had big letters instead of the weapon image things so the font file is messed somehow
however i have not touched it. It worked normally before but now i joined again and boom its messed up

tried verifying game caches didnt do anything.

Was it like a suspicious server? I remember one that showed a ridiculous amount of people playing but actually had none, and it installed malicious crap into your plugins which made you text and prop spam.

No, its a sandbox server that i have been playing on for like a year and i know the owners well

Completely uninstalled and reinstalled gmod but the problem persists.

deleted hl2 and deleted every single hl2 font re-ran hl2 and related stuff and verified game caches. Nothing seems to fix it

So i INSTALLED all of the fonts that i could find and then i REBOOTED
and that fixed everything.
