can do everything in the game, but can only see desktop

Whenever I play Garry's Mod, I can play for about 1-2 hours, 30 minutes at the least, and the game will lock up and go to my desktop. I'm still in the game but I can only see my desktop, and I thought it was Just DarkRP but it crashes on everything. This has been happening for the past 2 months and its really getting old.

What graphics card do you have? If anything in the GTX 200 Series then this problem is common.

What about a GTS 250?

Probably. I heard something about using older drivers to be able to get past the issue, but might cause other games to not work, or you can try using DirectX 8 in Garry's Mod. I haven't really tried either of these. I just restart the game and try to ignore it.

One of these days I'll buy a better graphics card.

One of these days I'll buy a better graphics card.[/QUOTE] well is there anyway i can fix this, besides getting a new graphics card? because lowering down my graphics doesn't seem to help and blowing out my computer doesn't seem to help....
