• Gmod crashes on some servers after it's finished downloading all files.

I've had this problem before, but now it's happening again. I had to format my Mac, so this is only happening on my windows computer. Sometimes error messages pop up when it crashes, and sometimes none pop up. The only one I can remember was an error message that said Engine Error: Out of Memory.
List your computer specs.
Here: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ (clocked at 2.82 GHz) RAM: 2gb of DDR2 RAM GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nforce 430 Yeah, I know my computer is shitty. GMOD is on DirectX 8.1 for me, so I can get higher FPS. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] Can someone help?
How much disk space do you have left on the partition where Steam is installed? What I think may cause this crash is that you don't have enough RAM to initialize the server. Depending on how many players, props and what gamemode the server is running determines how much RAM Garry's Mod requires. So if you join a server with lots of props and players, GMod simply can't allocate enought memory to use since your computer doesn't have that much. You may be able to solve it by shutting down processes that you don't use. A PC cleanup may solve it aswell. If you have alot of programs installed, you probably have shitty processes like services or "quick launchers" running all the time. Get rid of those aswell as shutdown any other program that you don't use when you join a server. Another theory might be that your HDD doesn't have enough space for the files that you download, but I doubt that is the issue. I'm very unsure about my last theory as it's just an assumption. If your HDD is slow to write to, GMod might be putting it's downloaded data into your RAM as a write-queue. Most torrent softwares do this.
I have 95.4 gb free. I only have a 250 gb HDD, so I can't store much. EDIT: No error messages pop up now. I also tried disabling all my addons. It didn't help.
Did you try out the other theories?
Well, pretty much all of the stuff that's taking the RAM on my computer is stuff that I need, and it's taking around 500 - 700 mb. I might see if I can find some 4 gig DDR2 ram. And I have Tiny7, which disables a lot of unused/memory hogging processes. (I also have a copy of Windows 7. Don't worry, I'm not a pirate)
Yeah, 2gb of RAM is way too low.
I'm probably gonna build a good PC, anyways. I might sell this one.
Yeah your computer is pretty crappy, the amount of addons overwhelm your computer and boom.
Well then, can anyone recommend servers without much content, or preferably none at all?
