I tried running tests, but the results were very inconsistent, because each time I reloaded the map the loading times were shorter. Then I decided to load the map 5-6 times until the times became consistent, then write down the results from 10 reloads of the map and check the average, before changing options or removing addons. Then, in the middle of my testing, suddenly the maps started loading two and three times slower without me changing anything, rendering further testing incompatible with my current results.
I've read that changing dxlevel from 95 to 80 greatly decreases the loading times, but according to my results the difference is around 0.5 seconds, which could easily be explained with my varying reaction time for hitting the button on the stopwatch.
Has anyone else done such testing? Does it make a difference if I have an addon manually installed instead of subscribing to it on the workshop? Can I decrease loading time by changing the game's settings?
The load times depends of amount of addons being installed, fragmentation of Garry's Mod files, speed of HDD, where game is located, map file size, etc. Disabling/uninstalling unused addons may speed up loading times since game will then load less files while you load up the map.
Computer speed plays a huge role. But also try defraging gmod files via steam
I can't find any button for defragging via steam. Should I also unmount any games that aren't used by the current gamemode?

No, don't unmount stuff
You can defrag gmod by right clicking it in the steam library, properties, and in the last tab it should let you defrag
