I've tried Garry's Mod on Linux before, but fonts and some menus are pretty broken. Does anyone here use Linux as their main OS, and have you made any changes to make Garry's Mod more playable?
I was thinking of using the Linux version for development (Linux > Windows for development IMO), but making custom HUDs and anything graphical is pretty much out of the question, due to the current state of fonts in Garry's Mod Linux.
I use Linux as my main OS, and besides the fonts it works fine for me. I've not particularly made any changes to my system to make it more playable.
Using custom fonts is easy, as long as you know specifically what font you want. I've found that installing them to ~/.fonts then using the name of the font in lua will work, as Coolvetica worked after installing it.
Perhaps fonts will be totally fixed in the future, but not now, so watch this space.
